Karl - I like this solution. The icons also allow for enabling the user to select more feeds - for fast flipping for the latest news.

What do yu'all think?

If 7 is the right number to run with - let's run with the default Change.gov, YouTube, Digg, Google News, Technorati, DailyKos, and Change.org.

(Basically just flipping out Politico with DailyKos)

I've written the precache icon code.
I also tried to make the text of the tabs fit, but there's just not
enough room to do it properly.

I tried it using icons instead of text, but that left huge swathes of
whitespace next to the tab-icon images. If we increased the amount of
tabs to about 8 or so it might look of with just icons in the tabs.

I've attached a quick screenshot using icons instead of text in tabs
tabs. See what you think?
