Dear Friends,
I wanted to remind you that this month the usual Democrats Abroad
Speakeasy will not be taking place at the Duke of York, but that
instead we have the rare and valuable opportunity of spending the
evening with noted Democratic Pollster and Strategist Stan Greenberg.
Greenberg is in town to promote his new book Dispatches from the War
Room, and has had a long and fascinating career working at the highest
levels of the progressive power structure.
He’ll be joining us for an event on Wednesday Night in place of the
usual DAUK Speakeasy.
RSVP to reserve your space to events @
democratsabroad.org.uk – or

NOTE: For those of you who are not US citizens, I’m sorry to say that
unless you have a US friend or spouse who is willing to pay for your
ticket without being reimbursed, Democrats Abroad can’t accept your
RSVP as they can only take money from US citizens. But you are very
welcome to come by after the event to join us for a drink and
discussion at the Drill Hall bar!
DAUK ELECTIONS TOMORROW
I’m looking forward to seeing a bunch of you at the DAUK AGM and
election meeting tomorrow! Just a couple points to quickly follow up
on my earlier message on this topic (which you can read again here:
http://obamalondon.blogspot.com/2009/02/next-weeks-democrats-abroad-elections.html).
1. Lizza Moya, who as some of you may recall I thought would be an
outstanding candidate for Secretary, has decided to withdraw from
that particular race because she wants to focus on the communications
committee. But she remains as committed to the organisation as ever
and is a candidate for Executive Committee. I hope you’ll consider
supporting her in that role, and that you will support the amazing
Alicia Skubick for Secretary. Similarly, Karen MacClean has withdrawn
from the Treasurer race but (fortunately) would like to stay involved
and remains an Executive Committee candidate, leaving Elaine Taylor
the remaining Treasurer candidate. We really are lucky to have an
embarrassment of riches, with so many great people – and feel free to
drop me a line if you’d like to know my thoughts about any of the
terrific candidates for Officer, Executive Committee, or about the
Council. Karinjr @

2. If you have not yet RSVPed for this event, but you would like to
attend, it is VITAL that you RSVP ahead of time to be sure of your
place. As I understand it, the room is filling up quickly and first
priority will go to those who have reserved their space. Obviously,
this is an open general meeting and DA will make a massive effort to
squeeze in every eligible member who wants to vote, but it will be
made easier for everyone if you have RSVPed ahead of time. Write to
secretary @
democratsabroad.org.uk to reserve your space.
Really looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow and Wednesday!
