VOTE FOR CHANGE AND PROGRESSIVE LEADERSHIP THIS SATURDAY AT COBO!
JOIN US FOR A JOINT 13TH/14TH RALLY FOR ROBINSON AND BROUGHTON THIS THURSDAY AT 6 pm
Theo Broughton for Chair in the 13th and Isaac Robinson for Chair in the 14th are running because they believe the Democratic Party should organize around a social and economic justice agenda and organize at the precinct level.
The local district Democratic Party organizations have been missing in action for years and in the face of a Trump presidency. The Private Club model has failed. This is our opportunity to open up the party. We are a big tent.
The district failed to send notices and engage the membership during these challenging times. According to the Michigan Secretary of State, the 14th District is racking up thousands of dollars in fines and has totally disregarded numerous failure to file campaign report notices since early 2015. No filings in 2016 or 2017 either.
The Districts have been silent on water shut-offs, the foreclosure crisis, ongoing environmental threats, pension cuts and problems with voting.
The Districts have undermined efforts to defend public education by endorsing a top Republican Emergency Manager advisor for Detroit School Board.
Instead of focusing on beating Trump, the Local District leadership killed efforts by local block clubs for a meaningful community benefits ordinance. The 14th opposed proposal A.
Attorney Isaac Robinson for 14th Chair:
· Former Political Director of the Michigan Teamsters
· Secretary, American Human Rights Council
· Former VP Young Democrats of America and 6-time precinct delegate
· Formed the Environmental Caucus of Metropolitan Detroit
Isaac has coordinated foreclosure prevention efforts across the area, organized against Trump’s hateful rhetoric for over a year, has organized against the dumping of radioactive waste in our area and stood with public education advocates in the fight to defend our public schools. His group Michigan Democratic Future has mobilized get out the vote efforts for the past 9 years. Isaac, a Detroiter, is son of Democratic State Rep Rose Mary C. Robinson who refuses to take any corporate donations.
Theo Broughton for 13th Chair:
· President of HOOD research, a public policy organization
· Vice-President of the Barton-McFarlane Neighborhood Association
· Long-time Democratic Precinct Delegate
In 2004, Richard Bernstein was elected Michigan’s first blind justice. Community activist Theo Broughton, who is legally blind, looks to make history as the next leader of the 13th Dems. Her public policy background and leadership experience in the Party and at the neighborhood level will be key as we activate committees and organize in all 12 communities of District 13.
Robinson and Broughton are committed progressive Democrats who will focus on organizing for Democratic victories and pushing back Donald Trump.
