I am still gathering and growing the Task Force's list of possible meeting locations for 2017.     We would like to set up as many meetings as possible in advance so that we can send around a set schedule.    What places of worship, union halls, government spaces or non-profits would be a good place for a meeting?   also indicate how many people might be able to fit in the meeting space and if there is parking.  Here are some of the suggestion so far.  Please email me a few more ideas if you can.   ALSO, INDICATE IF YOUR ORGANIZATION WOULD BE WILLING TO HOST an upcoming task force meeting.  Some of the meetings may end up being in a town-hall format where we will need a bigger space.

Also, email me ideas on what old and new issues the Task Force should be tackling in the new  year.       We plan on pulling city departments together to listen to concerns on issues residents face in the Winter.

Subject: Need suggestions for Meeting Locations for 2017, disability task force with Gabe Leland
To:

Dear Disability Task Force Attendees and residents:

Councilman Leland will be setting a meeting schedule for the Detroit City Council Disability Task Force for 2017.   The plan is to meet in different locations across Detroit.

Can your organization host a meeting at your site?

Do you any have suggestions for ADA compliant locations that would be good for a meeting, considering a number of factors including accessible bathrooms, access to public transportation and parking?  Please send ideas and contact info if possible.

Councilman Leland wants to take the show on the road.   I remember the Detroit Charter Commission holding meetings at union halls, recreation centers, places of worship and more . . .

Our meeting in January will include a focus on problems associated with Winter Weather.   Thank you to Baxter Jones and others for bringing this issues to the table.  So many issues to tackle including paratransit and others.   Location and time TBD.

Also, if you are willing to visit potential meeting sites with me please let me know.
