We've heard that the survey about people's responses to UC's housing plans at People's Park, conducted by researchers from Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands and UC Berkeley, is making the rounds again. We are not sure whether this is the same survey from last year, or if it has been changed after critical feedback from members of the community. While there are concerns about how the survey is being framed, you might want to weigh in either way in defense of the park.

Beware this is a psychology survey. Some of us have experienced such surveys, as well as public comments in Environmental Impact Report processes, being used to design campaigns to 'reeducate' people to neutralize public opposition.

Details about the study, which includes two other surveys, about North Berkeley and asjby projects, see:
https://eerlab.berkeley.edu/housingstudy/

People's Park Council is in solidarity with activists across the U.S. who are demanding Cop City plans and destruction of the Weelaunee Forest in Atlanta be halted immediately. Last year some of the Atlanta treesitters visited the Bay Area to organize with all of us, and gave presentations at Oakland's Tamarack and at People's Park.

Stop Cop City Solidarity is maintaining a continuously updated map of Cop City contractors, donors and board members of the Atlanta Police Foundation that is funding Cop City, and others who are trying to destroy the forest, and is calling for actions across the country to demand that they cut all ties with the Cop City project and the Atlanta Police Foundation. Map and links to more in-depth information about protest targets are here:

In other local news, progressive Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price, who came out to support People's Park last year, is facing a recall attempt. Consider signing the petition against the recall:

Please note that some of us have gotten error messages when trying to access the link. If anyone has a more reliable link, please let us know.

Solidarity Economy Block Party
SATURDAY, APRIL 8 - NOON-6PM
In front of Rochdale Apartments on Haste Street between Telegraph and Dana, Berkeley

The core purpose of this event is to promote the Solidarity Economy movement in Berkeley through a FREE, open & collaborative, recreational & educational community block party event.

This year’s event is continuing the legacy of the first Berkeley Student Cooperative-sponsored community block party hosted last year, and will focus on celebrating the BSC’s 90th anniversary as the largest North American student coop, highlighting its commitment to providing low-cost housing for students.

People's Park Council actively has supported BSC over the years, and council members will be participating at the block party, along with makers of the Disorientation Guide, and other allies.
