The coordination of tissue-level polarity with organism-level polarity is crucial in development, disease, and regeneration. Here, we characterize a new example of large-scale control of dynamic remodeling of body polarity. Exploiting the flexibility of the body plan in regenerating planarians, we used mirror duplication of the primary axis to show how established tissue-level polarity adapts to new organism-level polarity. Characterization of epithelial planar cell polarity revealed a remarkable reorientation of tissue polarity in double-headed planarians. This reorientation of cilia occurs even following irradiation-induced loss of all stem cells, suggesting independence of the polarity change from the formation of new cells. The presence of the two heads plays an important role in regulating the rate of change in overall polarity. We further present data that suggest that the nervous system itself adapts its polarity to match the new organismal anatomy as revealed by changes in nerve transport driving distinct regenerative outcomes. Thus, in planaria tissue-level polarity can dynamically reorient to match the organism-level anatomical configuration.

The Leonard Carmichael Society (LCS) is the largest student-run community service organization at Tufts University. LCS operates as an umbrella group for more than twenty service-oriented sub-groups. We also work alongside the Tisch College of Civic Life and our neighboring communities of Medford, Somerville, and Greater Boston to challenge students to adapt a meaningful view of service and become civically engaged with the world around them.

The Executive Board oversees the logistics, publicity, and budget of our sub-groups. We do all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the successful execution of our subgroups and their amazing service. Applications to join the LCS Executive Board are released at the beginning of each semester. There are spots reserved for first-years; you do not need prior LCS experience to apply!

If you are an organization or non-profit looking for volunteers, reach out to us! We are always looking for new service opportunities to share with our students. We are open to all and any feedback about what we can do better! Check out the contact us page to message us with anything. Or come to a club meeting to meet us in person.

How is the city of Medford nudging policies and investments to ensure that the City and its residents can adapt to the impacts of the climate crisis, adopt a more equitable land use and redevelopment process, support the region's history and culture, all while fostering economic growth and deploying plentiful and robust public services? A new comprehensive plan, shaped through extensive community engagement, provides a coordinated vision and pathway forward.

Founded in 1630, Medford is a mid-sized city in Massachusetts within the Greater Boston metro area. While Medford's population continues to grow and diversify, the city faces similar challenges to Boston: limited housing, intensifying challenges from the climate crisis, aging infrastructure and built environment stock, and a lack of sustainable transit connectivity.

To address these challenges, the City of Medford hired a team of consultants led by Agency Landscape + Planning, and including Innes Associates Ltd., Arup, Landau Design + Technology and Karp Strategies, to create a 10-year Comprehensive Plan. The team sought to address critical challenges and opportunities for the city and its residents, including land use, economic development, housing, mobility, public space, recreation, historic and cultural resources, and public facilities. A draft of Medford's Comprehensive Plan, released in July of 2022, builds upon Medford's unique physical and historical characteristics as well as the evolving needs and interests of its community to outline innovative, implementable solutions that can create sustainable and just opportunities for all of Medford's residents.

1. Maintaining Alignment: Retainers help preserve the alignment achieved during your Invisalign treatment. Teeth have a natural tendency to shift back to their original positions, and retainers prevent this relapse.

2. Bone and Tissue Adaptation: Your jawbone and gum tissue need time to adapt to the new position of your teeth. Retainers provide stability during this period, allowing these structures to solidify around your newly aligned teeth.

1. Teeth Shifting: The most immediate consequence is that your teeth will start to shift back toward their original positions. This can result in misalignment, which may require additional orthodontic treatment to correct.

1. Wear Your Retainer as Directed: Your orthodontist will provide specific instructions on how often to wear your retainer. Follow these guidelines closely, especially in the initial post-Invisalign period.
