Howeverall of the PCs are wired through the ethernet ports. I was wondering if I can somehow setup the WiFi myself without spending more than a few (free, preferably) and without messing up our IT system / making any sort of noticeable changes.
But you would have to buy and install a USB WiFi-adaptor like shown in -wifi-adapter/s?k=usb+wifi+adapter . This is not a recommendation to buy it in that particular webshop, just an example of what to look for in your favorite shop.
Yes, you can! Buy a cheap USB Wi-Fi adapter [search USB Wifi adapter]. Install the drivers, then use Windows 10 built-in Mobile Hotspot feature (search for it in Settings) to turn your PC into a Wi-Fi hotspot sharing your wired internet.

I've this same problem on iPhone 8 running iOS 13.1.3. My devices (Windows laptop, Fire TV, Android phone) can see the iPhone hotspot and connects to it but there is no internet connectivity thru hotspot, though i can browse internet on my iPhone.
Having same issues with my 8plus. Following step 10 worked except I only have internet on IPV4, but at least I have it, so thank you. I use the hotspot for work in the field, I guess the question now is am I going have to do step 10 every time I need internet while working. As with others my hotspot was fine until I updated to 13.1.3.
Lost internet connection while writing this back on house internet now. I have been to my carrier several times and they said they are having a lot of calls about hotspot issues on the iphones. So yes Apple please fix this.
I give full credit to these solutions to ska8ter skate. This works for Roku: turn off WiFi on your iOS device. Go to Roku Settings, Then System, Advanced System Settings, choose Network Connection Reset and reset connection.
After updating to iOS 13.2, the issue is resolved. I can now connect to hotspot and get internet access as well on other devices. No issues even after i connect these other devices to another WiFi or hotspot and connect again to iPhone hotspot.
MyPublicWiFi is an easy-to-use software that turns your laptop/tablet/PC into a Wi-Fi wireless access point or Multifunctional Hotspot. Anyone nearby can surf the Internet through your sharing. This is also an ideal solution for setting up a temporary Access Point in a hotel room, meeting room,at home or the like. By enabling user authentication, Customers will be redirected to your login page to authenticate with access password, Voucher Code or accept the Terms Of Use before getting the Internet access. The MyPblicWiFi-Firewall can be used to restrict user access to specific servers. You can also prevent the use of certain Internet services (e.g. file sharing programs) or block the use of social media networks (e.g. Facebook). MyPublicWiFi turn your PC into an Adblock Router. Advertising blocker are an effective way to save your internet bandwidth and protect the privacy of your user. The Bandwidth Manager helps you to control download and upload rate for your hotspot clients. MyPublicWiFi allows you to record and track all visited url pages on your virtual WiFi-Hotspot. Mypublicwifi allows you to set up port forwarding, is available in 19 languages, can be used without a Internet connection and supports the "Hosted Network" and "WiFi Direct for Windows 10/11".
I have recently moved to an island where there is no NBN and no landline facility for connecting to the internet via a router. What I have done - more-or-less successfully - is to tether to the internet through a Samsung Galaxy A11 phone, using a short USB cable. Speed fluctuates a bit but at its best it is quite fast. But at other times, possibly times of heavy internet traffic, either nothing happens; the computer just appears to freeze, or I get a red "NO INTERNET CONNECTION error message. This can last anything from a few seconds to twenty minutes or more.
Today I took my (almost new) phone to the Vodaphone shop on the next island and an excellent techo there walked me through resetting the username and password on the phone and gave me step by step written instructions for setting the computer to match. Unfortunately, when I got back to my own island I discovered that the small icon he told me to look for in the bottom right corner of my computer screen to start the process off is not there.
None of these look like a wifi facility to me. So I'm left thinking that as the computer is configured at present (either because of software or hardware limitations) it CAN'T be connected to the phone by wifi. I hope I'm wrong. I HOPE someone reading this can tell me I'm wrong, and how to make it work.
IF the cause of the problem is a hardware limitation, is it possible to retro-fit this very familiar, serviceable computer with a wifi card (or something) so that it CAN connect to the internet via the phone without the USB cable?
I'm running Windows 7 Professional and have strongly resisted "upgrading" to Windows 10 because of its arrogant, presumptuous, pushy invasion of privacy and constant attempts to over-ride local settings with stuff from/to "the cloud". Also, I want to keep my CD/DVD player. Current computers don't even seem to have the slots in their boxes to take one if custom fitted.

To do this first you must go to the control panel. Go to the windows search bar and search "Control Panel" and open the control panel. Next, click on Network and Internet, and then Network and Sharing center. Your window should look similar to the given screenshot.
That is it! Your hotspot should be working now. Take out your phone and try to connect to the hotspot with the name and password you assigned. If you are having trouble try to go through the steps again and figure out where you went wrong.
TIP: One common issue I found is that when connecting to the hotspot it shows that you are connected, but internet does not work. The solution is simple, you either skipped step 6, or did the step incorrectly. Try to go back and redo step 6.
Now that we are done, it is important to understand what we have created after following these steps. We have used a series of commands to create a hotspot with your computer. These commands also allowed the hotspot access to your already existing internet connection. The result is a WiFi hotspot created from your computer, that you have control over. These set of instructions are useful as you do not need to download third party software to create this hotspot.
The XP machine is my Toshiba laptop, which I've been able to connect previously. The computers have been able to see the SSID and connect since I got the phone in March 2013. They stopped seeing the SSID and stopped connecting on or shortly prior to March 1, 2014. Nothing was changed with the computers.
Went shopping for a new laptop. Looked at 10 laptops in two different stores. None would see my hotspot SSID. Called Verizon, and a very good tech named Jimmy spent a couple of hours with me. We finally did a hard reset of the phone. Everything is now working great and all of my computers can see the SSID.
I normally use the hotspot with my laptop when I'm out at a client's location and need internet access. This past Saturday I was at a client's location and tried to connect but was unable to even see the SSID in the list of available networks. I was able to see the clients wifi network so I was able to connect to his network. When I got back home I was troubleshooting the problems, and that's when I tried the other computers. My wife's laptop could see the SSID but the 3 desk tops could not.
One of the computers is a gateway, 8 years old, and I'm using a Linksys wireless G adapter that is about 7 years old. My Toshiba laptop is 8 years old and uses the factory installed adapter that came with it. The two other desktops are Dells and are 1 year old, using the factory installed adapters that came with them. All four could see the SSID prior to this weekend.
As I said could be a Windows thing. Windows changed my driver for my older network adapter and it wouldn't work. It wasn't until I rolled it back that it got working again, And it wasn't an easy thing to do because Windows was insistent on using the "newer" driver. I had to go into the System folder and manually delete some stuff so it would stop auto updating my driver. Thankfully I knew what to look for.
Thanks so much for turning the security on, Wagmore_Barkless. I regret that didn't work. I can imagine it it frustrating. Let's make sure we get you back in working order! Please go to settings>apps>all>mobile host spot>disable>enable.
The device will need to check for subscription every time with the Verizon Server when the app is launched to make sure that Mobile Hotspot subscription is available for this specific mobile number . This is the only way the app checks for subscription status and based on that would allow the application to start a Mobile Hotspot . I hope that information will help. Please keep us posted.

I mentioned in my original post that the Verizon store employees could see my SSID with their phones. I have had other people try their phones and some will see the SSID and some won't. I guess I'll just have to cancel the hotspot.
