Hello All!
After we counted all the votes, 6 people were available on Sat. August 22 and one on Sunday the 23, so we are picking the 22nd for our hike.
Although a few of us wanted to do an Old Rag Mountain hike, since it is a long hike, and it is getting very warm, we'll do the hike in the Fall, I promise!
This time around, I propose doing Maryland Heights hike
http://www.nps.gov/archive/hafe/maps/maryland.htm , which is bit vertically challenging, but no rock scrambling; and perhaps checking out Harper's Ferry area
http://www.nps.gov/archive/hafe/maps.htm
We'll have two carpools, one going out from Baltimore area, down rt. 70, and one out of NoVa area. Let me know if someone would like to get there by themselves and I'll look for good directions.
As for the time, I think if we'll get there by 11 a.m., hike up, which may take an hour and a half, and have lunch at the summit, we'll be golden! Then we could go check out the Harper's Ferry for a few while we are there. (Should we try to make some food bars from the Trive book for lunch?)
So please reply if you would like to join us for the hike, or to confirm that you like the hike plan and would like to either carpool or driving directions.
Train for a Better World!
Vlad
p.s. beginning next week (August 17th) a few of us will be following a 10K training plan to run a leg in Balto marathon (I think Marine Core also has 10K distance race in October), let me know if you are interested, and check out this cool site
