Hello G-FORCES network,

I’m reaching out to invite your help in sharing an exciting opportunity with educators in your networks, especially teachers engaged in climate, sustainability, and action-oriented learning.

Arizona State University is recruiting English-speaking middle and high school teachers from any country for the Educators Empowering Youth Climate Action (E-EYCA) program (June 2026–May 2027). This yearlong, virtual professional development and research experience centers on supporting educators in fostering youth agency, real-world action, and meaningful climate learning.

This opportunity is especially well aligned with the kinds of work many in the G-FORCES network are already advancing—supporting students as active participants in shaping more just and sustainable futures.

Please forward the attached flier and the invitation below to educators, partners, and networks who may be a good fit.

Thanks so much!

Andrea, Iveta, & Raj

Hello, educators!

You are invited to apply for the Educators Empowering Youth Climate Action (E-EYCA) program, taking place from June 2026 - May 2027!

Arizona State University (ASU)’s EYCA  team is seeking English-speaking classroom teachers to participate in a virtual, climate-focused professional development and collaborative research experience throughout the 2026-27 school year.

Are you currently…

  • Teaching 6-12th grade?
  • Engaging students in action that extends beyond classrooms?
  • Teaching climate and sustainability topics relevant to students and/or their community?
  • Collaborating with community partners?
  • Working in a school that encourages active learning and supports participation in educational research?

Join us in addressing today’s climate challenges by centering youth agency, facilitating youth action, and leveraging high-quality digital platforms for student learning in the classroom – all while engaging in participatory research alongside ASU education researchers!

The E-EYCA program supports secondary school educators in addressing today’s climate challenges by centering youth agency and action, leveraging quality digital platforms for student learning, and utilizing action-oriented pedagogies in the classroom. E-EYCA brings together teachers and educators over the course of a yearlong, virtual, professional development program to co-design, implement, and investigate student learning and action.

As a 2026-27 participant, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Earn a $3,200 stipend in honor of the work and professional expertise that you bring to the program, contingent upon ongoing and adequate participation in the program.
  • Learn about innovative pedagogies and online climate learning resources while conducting participatory research alongside peers and ASU’s expert educators.
  • Facilitate the growth of two students of your choosing, who will participate in select activities as part of the research process.
  • Travel with expenses covered for any in-person opportunities (e.g., conference presentations) that may arise throughout the school year.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to climate education research while also growing your own professional expertise!

The E-EYCA program is virtual, with hour-long synchronous meetings taking place once per month from June 2026 - May 2027, and asynchronous work being completed between meetings. Onsite opportunities may become available throughout the year, but will not be required.

Application Deadline: April 30th, 2026

The application may take up to any hour to complete and includes submitting a letter of support from your school’s current administration (you can access templates and documents to assist in obtaining this letter of support here). You can preview the application questions here.

Applicants selected to join E-EYCA for the 2026-27 school year will be notified by May 31st, 2026.

Know someone who may be interested? Feel free to forward this invitation to other educators!

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Sarah Suloff at ssu...@asu.edu.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

The Educators Empowering Youth Climate Action (EYCA) Team
