More generally, it was great to see every team demonstrating good
performance in multiple tests. As previously mentioned, we will be
posting a more comprehensive summary of the results shortly.

Next, I would like to thank everyone who made RMRC 2025 happen!

First, thanks to all of the teams! You are the reason for there being a
RMRC competition. Thanks in particular for your contributions to the
open source community, on behalf of the teams who will read your
materials and follow in your footsteps. Also thank you for your patience
as we navigated various issues both before and during the competition
this year.

On the organization side, I want to thank Amy in particular for stepping
in to lead the competition at short notice, when it became clear that
neither us, nor several other people who have run the competition in the
past, were able to travel to Brazil. Were it not for her volunteering to
come up to speed and run the competition, it's possible that RMRC may
not have happened this year.

Thanks also to Erick for co-leading the competition while also managing
his own team, Kam for splitting his attention between Major and Junior,
and Nathan for also stepping in from outside the competition, also at
short notice, and taking on way more of the load than any of us
expected. We were still unexpectedly short-staffed but through their
combined efforts we were able to make it happen.

A big thank-you also goes out to all of the mentors who helped to judge
the preliminary runs, and for everything that you do to prepare and
bring your teams to the competition. Having been a RoboCup team member
for 7 years and having guided multiple RMRC teams during the early
years, I fully appreciate how hard it is to manage all of the logistics
involved in a team.

Thank you to the rest of the RMRC Committee, RoboCupRescue Robot League
leadership, the RoboCup Federation, RoboCup volunteers, the local
organizing committee, and in particular Pedro who organized the
construction and logistics of the arena for both RMRC and RRL.

Final thanks to everyone both among the teams and the RMRC Committee who
provided feedback in the update of the rules document over the course of
the past few months, and in particular to Archer who provided extensive
comments on earlier updates as well as lots of support behind the scenes
before and during the competition, and to Stefan and Thomas who ran RMRC
in 2023, 2024, and the German open and also provided feedback.

On the topic of the rules, while you all reviewed (and some of you
commented on) them in the weeks prior, it's one thing to read and
roleplay the rules and it's another to actually run them in competition.
I'm sure there are plenty of things that passed our collective review
before the competition and that we are now better placed to evolve. To
that end, we will be opening up for contributions to the 2026 rulebook
later in the year so please do watch for that. In the meantime, do make
your own notes while your memories are still fresh. In particular,
please think about specific wordings that you would change. Similarly,
if there is any actionable advice you would give to the 2026 Local
Organizing Committee, such as regarding logistics, arena details, and
so-on, please note those down so you're ready when we make the call for
that later this year.

Finally, I'm sure many of you recorded lots of photos and videos from
the event. Please do post your highlights here and/or point us to your
social media posts about the event so we can all see what you did
(especially those of us who couldn't be there in person)!

Cheers!

- Raymond
