Hi All!
With RoboCup 2025 fast approaching, I just wanted to introduce you to
the folks who will be running RMRC on the ground in Brazil!
Sadly, neither myself nor Archer will be able to join in person this
year but I'm sure with all the great folks both among the teams and the
organizers, it will be a success!
Organizers:
Amy Eguchi from the University of California San Diego is a former
RoboCup Federation Vice President and will be leading RMRC on the ground
in Brazil. Amy and I, along with Adam Jacoff at NIST, started RMRC, as
the first bridging competition between Major and Junior. She has been
involved in its development ever since.
Erick Sanchez from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León in Mexico is
a longstanding mentor in RMRC, most recently for CR-AESIR. He is also a
member of the RMRC Committee and ran the Mexican Open for RMRC. He
brings plenty of experience in the logistics and organizational side of
running RMRC.
Kamel Saidi from the National Institute of Standards and Technology is
one of the organizers of the Major RoboCupRescue Robot League. I've
worked with him as part of the Standard Test Methods for Response Robots
for many years. He has offered to be the "crossover" person between
Major and Junior Rescue and the broader standards process, and can field
questions and judgement calls regarding technical aspects of the tests.
In addition, three International Volunteers have been selected! These
are all folks who have an interest in working with us, learning more
about what RMRC does, contributing their experience to the competition,
and further developing RMRC in their home countries.
Emmanuel Mulengwa from Kenya
Luis Angulo from Panama
Nathan Adams from Australia
Cheers!
- Raymond
