You just aren't a good sysadmin if you don't have a beard. Starting Nov.
1st, you'll be given that opportunity:

http://whiskerino.org

As far as I understand, you are required to start clean shaven on Nov.
1st, and publish a mugshot at least once a week, starting with day 1.
The contest goes until Feb. 28th. From what I understand, the rules are
as follows:

* Start clean shaven Nov. 1.
* Post a picture of your mug at least once per week during the duration
of the contest.
* No trimming, shaping, shaving, or other modifications are allowed. The
entire beard must grow, including on the neck, for the whole contest.
* If any of the above are broken, you are taken out of the contest, and
added to the "Wall of Shame".

Each day is a contest, with people voting on photos that the contestants
have submitted. The photo of that day with the most votes is "King
Beard" for that day. At the end of the contest, the people who were
voted daily King Beard the most, become King Beard for the contest.

This is as I understand it. I haven't participated in years past, so
this year will be a first for me, but I'm definitely doing it, despite
my wife's objections. :)

I say we get the members of LUGs to do the same, each growing out our
Unix beards for the contest. After all, stereotypes are all that matter. :)

Ah, I remember my own beardless days. So young and carefree, as I
repetitively annoyed everyone in the Utah open source community.

Then again, some would say I still do. Maybe I can disguise myself with a beard?

My friends and I used to do the St Patty's Run from Jan1 to St. Patricks Day.  This is a little more upscale...

How many others are going to do it?

And if the inference wasn't understood I'm in, provided I don't get fired... have to check that...

I know of at least 3 others that are doing it, none of which are in this
group, but elsewhere.
