We've got the new 12" and the (2024 IIRC) 13" at my house. They're excellent machines and run Linux out-of-box beautifully. (The latest Fedora and Debian, and one of my coworkers runs Arch on his.) It's legitimately fun (and easy) to assemble them yourself. I haven't had to replace any parts yet, but I put mine together so I already know how to take it back apart. My coworker had to replace a bulging battery and it took him only minutes. The keyboard on the newer 12" feels excellent -- kind of a return to the old MacBook chicklet keys before they inexplicably switched to the butteryfly keys. I keep mine plugged into a dock mostly 24/7 and the bios let's me limit the charge to 80% so hopefully that will help me avoid having to replace it at all.
The only caveat I know to mention is the power draw on the AMD hardware is substantially heavier than on the Intel hardware. AMD performs noticeably better but if you're looking for more than 4-5 hours of battery, I'd recommend Intel. I ran a system idle test with the same Debian distro after a fresh reboot and the AMD system drew between 7-9W and the Intel system drew around 3.2W. (I don't think this is specific to Framework because I've seen similar numbers from a non-Framwork AMD Linux system.)
I've really enjoyed my experience with Framework so far and am considering their desktop since I don't often need mobility these days. Plus it looks cool. :-)
