Dear Peace Walkers,

Just wanted to give you an update on the peace walk. After hearing
back from the few that responded about joining the Peace Walk that OCO
was planning. I communicated with Jesus that we wanted to join them.
In trying to confirm details with him, however I discovered that their
peace walk will not be on the 14th as I was told, but on Friday the
13th. Given this shift, I do not think that it will be possible to
join with them as I had wanted. This leaves us on our own to do the
coming peacewalk on Saturday.

I want to propose that we do something pretty simple and doable given
our timeframe.

We have the Oak Park TAC reserved for the night. I say that we gather
at the TAC, pray, break up into groups, go out to the houses of the
people we want to interview and offer to pray for them. I do not
think that we should just show up, but rather let them know in advance
that we are coming. We should probably try to constitute groups that
include SP folks, NH folks and neighbors. If we break up into groups
that each go to two houses, and then come back to the TAC for the ice
cream social we talked about, that should be cool. When we come back
to the TAC if we bring some of the neighbors with us, we can plan for
getting the surveys done, and begin to plan for the Block Party.

What do you all think?

Dan

Hi Dan,

I am really sorry to miss out on this walk also, but I'm going to WI
this weekend to go to a retreat run by this group that my brother and
sister-in-law introduced me to. (They will both be there also, so it'll
be seeing a bit of family as well.) It was a bit last minute, but it
seemed like a good idea for me to go. With summer beginning, though, I
am hoping Carlos and I could put our heads together and do more of a
follow-up to the violence panel in April. Come up with more concrete
lines of action, perhaps, and follow up with OCO, NCPC, Luis, etc. I'll
check in with you in the next couple weeks once the end-of-semester is
done and summer officially begins.

I hope for a very successful and blessed peace walk and survey!

Jennifer
