What's up Fam?!

If you've been keeping up with the haps in Oakland you might have
noticed that we've diversified a bit. We now have the COMEDY Slam on
2nd Thursdays and we're part of the show that throws The Encyclopedia
Show: Bay Area on 3rd Thursdays. This week is the former - and what a
funny show it's going to be...

The Oakland COMEDY Slam & Wide-Open-Mic is a one of a kind event! The
evening starts off with the patented WIDE-Open-Mic, hosted by Dre. We
welcome comics, poets, singers, MCs, storytellers and performers of
all kinds to the stage. We often have a spotlight feature after the
open-mic as well. These hand picked min-features are as varied as the
open-mic itself and always exquisitely talented.

The second half of the night is the COMEDY Slam. In it you'll see 5
professional stand up comics each deliver a 15 minute set. After
they've all performed the entire audience chooses who gets that
evenings $100 prize. For May 12th we'll have Emily Heller, Marcus
"Poke" Miles, Sam Hunt, Karinda Dobbins and Dash Kwiatkowski. All five
of these folks is hilarious - you definitely don't want to miss this
show!

Then, after all the performers we crank the music up and dance to the
turntable stylings of DJ Black.
