Sorry if you've received this email more than once. You may have already received this from Linda Kitchin, and I'm just figuring this google groups thing out as I go...
Hello,
I'm a 3-yr resident of Oak Hills, and I've recently become more interested in learning about how to minimize our impact to the earth. A few months ago, I attended an "Eco-Party" at a friend's house, and I found that the Eco-Party was a very fun and easy way to learn about a variety of topics - composting, household chemicals, conserving water and much more. I also learned that many of the things we can do to minimize our impact also save us money.
I am very thankful to live in such a great community, and I'm hoping that I might be able to share some of these learnings by organizing a neighborhood Eco-Party at the Oak Hills Rec Center. I also hope this gives me an opportunity to meet even more neighbors in the community.
If you're not familiar with an Eco-Party, it's basically a free information session that is facilitated by the Center for Earth Leadership, a non-profit located here in Portland. The facilitator typically covers a broad overview of the topics listed below, but if there is a specific interest in any area, we can let them know ahead of time and focus more on that topic. The discussion usually follows a checklist that I will email to everyone who RSVPs.
Topics covered 1. Waste Reduction: Effective composting, creating an efficient recycling system, reducing packaging and junk mail 2. Toxics Reduction: Identifying toxic products and learning about effective alternatives
3. Energy Savings: Weatherization audits, testing shower-head flow, new technologies 4. Water Conservation: Savings through more efficient appliance use and yard irrigation
Lemonade and snacks will be provided, and we will even have an earth-friendly item to give away to one lucky winner! If you would like to attend, please RSVP soon to this message or tojenmi...@hotmail.com as we need to confirm a high enough attendance to make the trip worthwhile for the facilitator. Also, feel free to send me any questions you may have about the event.
When: Wednesday, June 17th @ 7pm Where: Oak Hills Rec Center
I truly hope that many of you will be able join us!
Thank you, Jen Miller

Hi Jen,
Please remove my email from your list (allg...@verizon.net). The
boundary changes last year moved us to Terra Linda.
