They're interested in buying essentially all of our open space, but
not the pool. There was no specific plan presented to develop
anything on the land. They said it would still be a neighborhood
park. For them to do so would require all of us to be annexed into
the THPRD, and pay that incremental $1.70/$1000 of assessed value.
That would require at least one (county) election where some large
majority (75%?) of us approve that annexation. That vote might
exclude those of us (like me) who have voluntarily annexed. The
result would be that we'd pay THPRD to maintain our park instead of
the HOA. It's not clear the total HOA and THPRD payments would be
lower than the HOA payments are now.
A vote of the homeowners in attendance was taken, and not surprisingly
the result was a resounding "hell no". This seems to mean that the
board will not pursue this any further, but it might be a good idea to
look for confirmation of that.
Some folks are upset that we didn't want to at least consider this
before deciding. Maybe they think THPRD will pay enough for the land
to make it worth it to all of us? I don't think that's possible.
