Indiana primary

Hope the shock of seeing something from this group doesn't give anyone
a heart attack. I'm just curious about what folks in Indiana are
hearing and saying about the primary. My younger daughter was working
for the Clinton campaign in Pittsburgh and is bugging me to go with
her after her finals to Indiana to canvas. Are folks really
canvassing small towns in Indiana? Moreover, are folks from out of
state going around and how are they being accepted? I don't remember
anything like that growing up.

In the interests of full disclosure, I am a Democrat who played ball
with Obama two or three times a week for a couple of years. His kids,
though much younger, go to the same school that my kids attended (my
youngest still there). However, I am, like many folks who knew him
from that time and place, a committed opponent of Obama. I won't
burden the list with the reasons I think he is unfit for office but if
anybody wants to communicate directly I would be more than glad to
give you a run down on the Barack that I knew.

I hope this isn't considered impolite conversation.

Now that I have gotten past the fact that someone from 1980 is still
around I will begin the task of repsonding to your query. There are
headquarters for both Osama (typpo) & Ms. Clinton in Marion, There has
been hoopla about the candiates going local but very little about the
door to door groups. In the interests of full disclosure and am right
down the middle convinced this is the year of Ralph Nader. A brief
rundown would be how can you elect someone to run your country when
you are paying 2 billion dollars a weeek to kill him in another
country. Ms. Clinton can not decide whether or not she wants to be Ms
or Mrs. Yea I want her in charge. I could see any other female or
black female in charge before these 2. What is it says in Revelations
about the anti Christ coming from the east...... Anyway that brings
us to McCain who has obvious anger management problems and 1 foot in
the grave. What better way to run a country when obvious negotiation
techniques have not been used in at least 100 years. The thought of
that angry old man with his twitching thumb hovering back and forth
above the ulimate button of life and death just the thought alone
will drop gas $1.50.

But I digress. How in the heck are you Jerrry good to hear from you
and I wish you safe travels. If you believe that Hillary is the best
option becasue of prior dealings with Osama you might give old Ralph
a try.

Here in California I'm paying $3.85 (and it's quickly rising) per gallon
for gas. All I got out of this conversation is that I need to vote for

Actually we have been "feelin' that" around here lately,  the earth quaking I mean.  They let people in California vote?  Now there is a campaign issue.

Why sure we vote.  Heck, we like it so much that we even bring people by the truckload across the border so they can vote here, too.

 

Yeah, I heard about that earthquake you guys had.  Makes you rethink all those heavy pictures and mirrors above your bed, huh?  My last few trips to Indiana I was freaked out by all the heavy stuff that was precariously mounted over the beds.  I had to be reminded that earthquakes aren't an issue there.  It might be time to redecorate now, though.

Jerry...was your daughter the one who called my house Monday night
from the "Clinton camp" to ask me if I was voting? I said sure I am,
I'm voting Republican. The "camp" then called back the NEXT day and
when my husband heard the intro, he hung up on them. (Can you tell we
aren't phone people?) I would hate to try to decide who to vote for
in the Democrat race these days. You poor things...

Hey group.. gawd i hope im doing this right.... I was hesitant to join
in on this discussion because politics and religion are topics that
just can't be won! I feel sorry for both of the main parties.... not
much to choose from. I guess I will have to write in Pat Paulson for
nostalgic reasons.... well good luck to all and hopefully whoever gets
the office will make some changes before this country collapses!

It could have been her. It could have been me.  I know Barack very well, too well. I played basketball with him two or three times a week for a couple of years when he was a law lecturer. So I was in Indiana on Tuesday working the phones and trying to get out the vote for Hillary (working in my district in Illinois is a waste of time).  I consider Barack a corrupt and unscrupulous danger to my party and the country.  If he were elected president with a Democratic majority in the Congress, he could do serious damage.  So if Barack is the candidate in the fall I will be voting for McCain and may even donate money or volunteer.  "Democrats for McCain" buttons might be a profitable investment.  I may need one.

People who think the Clintons are corrupt or unscrupulous often ask me if what I say is true, then what is the difference is between the Clintons and Obama.  That's easy, I believe the Clintons truly like people and want to help others (sometimes Bill likes them too much).  From what I know of Barack, he is arrogant and does not give a damn for others. I saw him get decked twice by very nice off-duty cops (African-American) who were on his own team and get into numerous wrangles with other folks.  The elitist accusations are completely true and I know from direct experience that the comments in San Francisco represent his true attitudes. 

Anyway, there is a serious answer for your question.  Not my usual levity.

Pat Paulson...now that IS a thought. When I was younger I got an
autograph picture of him. Black and white of course. And free. He was
a hoot. Good to hear from you Doug, hope all is well in your world.
And Jay, you're much funnier than I ever gave you credit for. We
should have hung out more in high school. I'll never forget finding
out your middle name was Ivan. We ALL found out your middle name was
Ivan. Those were mostly the good ol' days.

I still dream in "high school" years sometimes. Do you guys ever do
that?

I posted a second note or thought I did...but it's not here. I
apologize if it shows up twice, ANYway.....Pat Paulson, what a
thought. When I was much younger I got his autograph on a black/white
photo of him...free of course...in the mail. He was a funny guy
wasn't he? Brings back memories. Hope all is well in your world
Doug, and Jay...I should have hung out with you more in high school,
you are one funny guy. I appreciate the humor in people so much more
now; guess I've learned a lot in the past 30 years. Can you believe
that 30 years ago this was the summer most of us were 16 and driving
around on our own? My first real job was A & W in Marion where I was
a carhop (no roller skates so don't even ask). I think I drove my
mom's Chevy Nova to work for a while before I made enough tips to buy
my own car. Yeah right. Anyway I did learn cheese dogs and root beer
went wonderful together. Still have them today.
