Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the programme has been released and registrations are now open for the 3rd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access, to be held from 2 to 6 February 2026 in Bengaluru, India.

3rd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access
Collaboration for Equitable Digital Infrastructures and Knowledge Commons in Agriculture and Broader Scientific Research Systems

The Global Summit on Diamond Open Access brings together the worldwide Diamond OA community to foster dialogue among scholarly community representatives, policymakers, research funders, librarians, publishers, and other key stakeholders. The Summit provides a unique international forum to share experiences, confront structural challenges, and collaboratively shape the future of equitable, community-governed scholarly communication.

A central outcome of the 2026 Summit will be the development of a Roadmap for Diamond Open Access, offering concrete and actionable recommendations that can be adapted and implemented across diverse local, national, and regional contexts.

About the 3rd Edition

This third edition builds on the strong foundations laid by the First Global Summit for Diamond Open Access (Toluca, Mexico, October 2023) and the Second Global Summit (Cape Town, South Africa, December 2024). Together, these Summits brought hundreds of participants from around the world and led to significant collective outcomes, including the Toluca–Cape Town Declaration on Diamond Open Access.

The Bengaluru Summit carries this momentum forward, strengthening global collaboration and reinforcing a shared commitment to equitable, publicly governed knowledge infrastructures. The programme includes multiple thematic tracks for in-depth discussion across disciplines, along with dedicated reflection on the role of early-stage researchers.

Programme and Registration

The Summit programme is now available and features a diverse range of sessions designed to encourage cross-regional exchange, practical collaboration, and shared strategies for advancing Diamond Open Access across all academic disciplines.

Registrations are now open, and we warmly invite members of the global scholarly communication community and all interested stakeholders to join us in Bengaluru. To ensure balanced and inclusive participation, registration confirmations will be communicated following review by the organisers.
