Hello,

we are in the process up updating our OAI data provider URL as the
university has changed its name and domain.

In the OAI-PMH specification http is listed in the examples. Can one use
https too? Seen a couple of registered data providers which use https.
Are there any drawbacks?

A test validation succeeds with

"Uses https URIs (not specified in protocol)"

Thanks and stay save and healthy

I believe the original standard specified HTTP (was that twenty years ago?), but today there are many repositories that provide OAI-PMH only over HTTPS.

Yes, as Thomas says, the original protocol said that http URIs must be used but the world has moved on since then. The validator was modified a while ago to accept https URIs and it looks like your data provider is fine!

Cheers,
Simeon
