My organization is starting a new project to create something that we
are called the "media player" that hopes to use the Atom version of
ORE to store information about the sequencing of media files (and
their annotations) to create a light-weight, internet-dependent
version of a slide show.

From a first, not yet thoughtful, reading of the spec, I think we are
talking about creating serialized (actually, totally serial)
aggregations of digital objects.

When done, this will involve one or more drupal modules, so it could
be a neat addition to the Drupal community tools.

Is anyone working on anything similar? Ideas? Examples?

Ari-

I missed this message when it came through a few weeks ago. We are
doing something along these lines in our project at UT Austin (http://
daseproject.org). We do not, in fact, use ORE for slideshows, rather
we use a regular Atom feed and for a fancier version, JSON data
structures. It's one of the key places, though, that I see ORE
fitting in quite well, and I hope to start doing some proff of concept
work soon.

I'd certainly be interested in hearing more about your project (we
have some folks interested in Drupal integration as well).

i think it's be quite cool to define a standard means to describe a
media player w/ ORE -- it's a nice use cases that demonstrates the
range of applications possible.

I got no responses on the list, but we are putting together something
that I think makes sense based on the examples on the OAI-ORE site.
Hope to post that sample in the next day or so. Let's stay in
touch--would love to compare notes and of course, the Drupal stuff
will be available from drupal.org when we're done.

I have posted our sample OAI-ORE Atom-formatted page in a public wiki
page at http://jwamigration.jwa.org/Revson

Comments, questions, and corrections are very welcome, especially at
this stage of the project, just prior to the first implementation
sprint.

Many thanks,
Ari
