So.... for those who have made the lifestyle choice of becoming a
vegan (which is highly recommended if you are truly concerned about
environmental issues), this applies to you.

www.vegandocumentary.com

An up and coming documentary is looking for current vegans who want to
share their reasoning and thought process as well as experiences...

Who knows...this could be YOUR 15 minutes of fame. Atleast it's
better than being voted of an island or ridiculed on American Idol.

Yony -

Went to this site and all looks good - except... I can't see who is putting this together? No
"Contact us" no "FAQ" no "Home" areas to check into...

Need to know if this isn't someone trying to dig up info...

Links, hints, and tips appreciated.

John,

I totally understanding what you are saying....good eye. Would be
a sad day when a indentity theif would target the vegan population,
but definetly a possibility. I found this link on the veganfreak
website, so I am pretty confident it is safe, especially because Bob
Tpres is a stickler about who he supports/promotes. However, I went
ahead and wrote a note to the email contact address provided on the
vegan documentary website asking for a little more info on their
background. I'll post this info when they reply.

I've already has my 15 minutes of fame so I didn't volunteer with them but
I did sign up for their e-mail updates so I'll let you know if I ever
receive anything from them.

It's quite dated but there's about 5 pages about me in a book by Linda
Breene Pierce called "Choosing Simplicity: Real People Finding Peace and
Fulfillment in a Complex World." Copyright 2000. The library has it and
the author did a sort of simple living workbook follow up.
http://www.gallagherpress.com/cs.htm
When this was done, a lot of people chose not to use their real names but I
used mine because of exactly what you said...this will be my 15 minutes of
fame...when else would I ever be in a book?!!!!! The vegan thing was
tempting because I've been one for so long but I wasn't crazy about the
idea that it would just be floating around the internet for free. We
didn't get paid for the book but we did sign official transcript release
and approval papers, etc. so we'll se what comes of the vegan site. Might
still do it.

Yony,

It is a fair question. This link will give you a little more
background info on the project:

http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/im-vegan-documentary-profiles/

You can follow up from there by Googling me:

Or, if you’re pressed for time, just peruse these links:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0696101/

Hope that helps.

Kind regards,

Glad to see that that this is legitimate! I've heard Eric Prescott speak at two Animal Rights Conferences, and I briefly talked to him as well.

It was the annual Animal Rights Conference, sponsored by FARMUSA. Last year, the conference was in LA and this year in DC. They have a variety of topics, covering everything from health and nutrition, activism, factory farms, illegal wildlife trade, puppy mills, etc. They have an exhibit hall where organizations and vendors can have booths set up. Organic Athlete had a booth there. I've attended the conference 2 years in a row, and frankly, I don't see myself making it a yearly thing. It is a good introduction for new activists, but it's pretty much the same thing every year. The best part is networking with others, and a base network can be established after attending 2 conferences, as I have. Other organizations sponsor similar conferences around the country, so I'll most likely check those out in the future.

Here's a link: http://www.arconference.org/ You can see the topics if you click on "Program Schedule."

Prescott (Director of the Boston Vegan Association) spoke on a number of topics this year. Last year, I heard him speak about blogging and that's when I had the chance to talk to him briefly after his presentation (he probably doesn't remember me, though!). He's very approachable and friendly. He's media savvy and keeps a pulse on global animal rights and vegan issues. He adheres to the abolitionist view of animal rights, but his message is very accessible. He has a calm demeanor and a pragmatic, rational approach.
