Ok, so here iis a potential Organic Athlete event.
http://www.pelotonia.org/ride/
If you haven't heard yet, OSU Medical Center has teamed up with
NEtJets (local major corporation) in founding a two day 160 mile bike
ride that will use 100% of it's earnings to support cancer research.
Individuals can ride, but teams can be formed which is what I would
like to do. An Organic Athlete Team for a one time event. What do you
all think? Would anyone be interested in joining me? Also, do you
think there is a potential conflict with our value system, raising
funds for cancer research when the possibility of animal testing can't
be ruled out? A possible counter argument to that could be that our
team is promoting the vegan lifestyle as an optimal cancer fighter.
This is not a race....so anyone who owns a bike can get in on
this. And for those of you who are intimidated by the two day ride,
you can opt for just doing one of the days.
As of now, registration is only open to those connected to
OSU...which I coincidently am going to school at as well as work for.
I plan on registering ASAP.
The ride will become an anual event, with the 1st ride being on
august, so there is plenty...and I mean plenty of time to train.
