Hi All -

Got out yesterday for my first training day run for the Columbus Marathon, May 2.
Semi cold out yesterday in the sunny morning.

Also doing some indoor bike challenges. Most hours ridden for a three month period.
Some of those people do a LOT of indoor riding. 8 - 10 - 12- + hours @ other day.

Just when you think you've seen it all.....

I never knew such a thing existed!

http://www.ultracycling.com/

I spent some time searching the link. Very cool stuff. Curious to
hear what rebecca has to say to this.... 400miles on a bike is no
easy task, or atleast with a 1st impression....

So far my record is 100 miles broken up over two days, but I am
planning on doing the TOSRV ride in May (200 miles over 2 days). Are
you doing TOSRV this year John???

Yony -

Glad you liked the link to Ultra Cycling. Check out all that they do. Brevets, etc....

TOSRV in May? Not sure... Have the Columbus Half Marathon the weekend prior and I
am just coming back from being away for too long... (Cancer, kidney out, etc.) But I'm
back, albeit going at half speed and short distances... If things go well (training) and I
feel up to it YES I will. I also have a run planned for the last weekend of May... so have
to be ready for it after TOSRV... So, I'm spending my winter cranking up my foundations...
(for triathlons, orienteering, too)

Yony - Have you ever gotten into LetterBoxing? Check it out - gives one an excellent
way to wander into areas one might otherwise have missed.

Rebecca says "holy crap!"  I have the utmost respect for cyclists and even more for triathletes.  I think cycling is harder than running and swimming even harder.  I do running not only because I love it but because it's easy!  There, I said it out loud!  My biggest challenge on my bike (and I do ride just for fun, not speed or competition) is lack of seat comfort!.  I'm good for one afternoon of riding and that's it.  I would also rather run up a hill than bike up it so, again, totally humbled by you cyclists!

Funny you should say that, cause although I agree that swimming is the hardest...i actually got into riding cause I thought running was harder.  You can coast on a bike when you're out of breath, but if you stop running...well, you only have the hard concrete to catch you.   :   )

I guess that is why tri's are so appealing to me...a little bit of everything, but all in moderation.  Looking forward to doing an Olympic distance this summer.
