So I mentioned in a couple posting back that I am chairing the
Alternative Transportation Committee for the Green Columbus Earth Day
event April 18th-19th.

Our goal is to encourage as many attendees as possible to travel
via ....alterntive transportation (bike, bus, carpool).

To tie all these methods together we are looking for potential
volunteers for:

- Pedicab (Cycle modified taxi rides around Goodale Park to raise
funds to help offset festival costs).

- Group Ride Leaders from surrounding burbs (Hilliard, Bexley,
Dublin, Campus, Clintonville, etc) to the festival in Goodale park or
back to their respective home areas.

- Bike Valet workers to help watch and stow bikes of attendees as
well as collect donations to help offset costs of event.

If any of these volunteer perk your interest let me know and I will
get you more information as it becomes available. Feel free to pass
this posting onto any other potentially interested volunteers.

Thanks in advance.

not quite sure what a pedicab is, which is why I'd like to do it! :-) I'm assuming it is a bike pedaled vehicle that I would transport attendees in????

Rebecca,

That is exactly what it is.  Think of those horse drawn carriage rides, but replace the horse with a human on a bike.  The pedicab isn't as much a alternate form of transportation from someones house to the festival, but more a novelty ride around the park a time or two.  Glad you're interested in volunteering, I'll keep you posted with more details.  To do the pedicab, one 1 hour class on using the pedicab is required but we haven't set-up the date as of yet.  This is the aspect i figured most people would want to jump in-on.  Since the pedicabs available will be limited, we will probably set-up shifts on the bikes, with those 1st expressing interest getting top choice on their shifts.

kewl...I figured it was just around the area, not pick up from home.  Shifts sounds good too and count me in for the 1-hour class.  Good to see things are being planned well in advance!
