Consider Biking Map Project Update and Call for 20 Volunteers!
Consider Biking is proud to have driven the creation of one of our cycling community's greatest needs - a Bicycle Usability Map!  After months of advocating, we are excited that the project is well underway, and will serve as a needed resource to help determine best routes throughout our entire metropolitan area. The first draft of the map is near completion! Now we need your help to verify and validate the "levels of service" (routes) on the map. Consider Biking seeks 20 volunteers to: 1) attend a 4+ hour workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 27th (3:00 or 4:00 pm) to pour over the first draft of the map as a group, 2) to take responsibility for a specific geographic area, and "field test" and/or provide feedback for the levels of service/routes on the map. If you would like to volunteer for this desperately needed project, contact Jeff Stephens <je...@considerbiking.org> 614-579-1127 asap for details, and to be placed on the January 27th workshop invitation list. With the help of 20 volunteers over the next month, we can get the map to print, and have these available to help more people participate in May's Bike Month and Bike to Work Week activities! We need experienced local cyclists to help define the best routes! We need to map the simple, but perhaps unknown, neighborhood cut-throughs that might serve as a valuable option to an unsafe, auto-centric arterial. We can't leave this to the traffic engineers and consultants...
