Kevin, who is currently working over at the OATC, is going to come
down to San Francisco for some big rides Friday-Sunday. We are trying
to get a big group ride going all of these days, so if you are
available any of those days, let me know. We will probably be leaving
SF around 9am and heading north into Marin. One day will be a Tam day.
One day a Pt Reyes day. And the third day is still up for grabs. Maybe
go south?
Let me know if there is any interest,
Noah

Per your emails I get the idea that Sunday is a Paradise loop + ride. If you wear yourselves out enuf on Fri and Sat that you can deal with my geriatric pace I’d be interested in joining you like I did a couple months ago.

In light of your neck problem have you considered trying a recumbent?  As you probably know recumbents are much easier on the neck and back. I just happen to have an extra one you could borrow for a while. It is a touring recumbent known as a Bacchetta Giro 20: http://www.bacchettabikes.com/recumbents/bikes/giro20.htm
Â
It is quite easy on the neck and back, but can go pretty fast as well..
Â
I have since graduated to a high racer recumbent which is not so easy on the neck, but goes faster. So, I don’t ride the Giro much any more and you could use if for a month or two……..

| Can you guys provide specific info on the July 25 ride, e.g. location, start time, distance, etc.? There's nothing on the calendar on the OA Bay Area website. Could you also state whether there's a no-drop policy, the speed of the ride, etc. I too am a very slow rider, but can handle hills and long distances (have done many centuries; just did the Death Ride). Thanks. --- On Wed, 7/22/09, Natasha Tuck <natash...@gmail.com> wrote: |
Friday: Mt Tam Ride. Distance: 60miles from SF. Pace: Decent Pace, but
with many regroup spots on climbs/descents.
Saturday: Pt Reyes. Distance: 100 miles from SF. Pace: Depending on
who shows up, moderate. We usually go slow through Fair Fax, with some
decent pulls up to Nicasio.
Sunday: Paradise Loop. Distance: 45 miles from SF. Pace: Probably
going to be relaxed if it gains more people showing up.
For the most part, the pace of the rides can be slowed down to
accommodate for slower riders/more spots. The only spots we generally
drop in is when Zach and Forrest are pulling away up the climbs. But
we regroup quite often. I guess what I am trying to get across is that
if people are interested in rides, we can make them more social then
pure training, and they generally are not full blown crush sessions.
Though, we do those a few times a week, if you want to ride a long. So
do not let the pace worry you, we will be more and glad and ride with
a larger number of OA'ers at a slower pace then fewer at a faster
pace.
Doug: I will keep you updated on the Ploop route for Sunday. I would
expect us getting to the end of the bike path around 10ish. But I will
keep you updated on that this weekend.
Emily: Good luck with the Neck pain. I am currently fighting an
injury, and it appears only time is going to make it 100% again.
Natasha: Let us know when your free for some rides!
Heather: Have fun at the track! I need to get my days in as well, but
getting down there hasnt proved to be an easy task.
From now on I will try and post up what our (being Zach and I) ride
schedule will likely be for the week. If you can make it great, if
not, hopefully next time. And if you guys could do the same, and get
some activity going on this mailing list, it would be nice to have a
big formal chapter in the bay area.
Any more questions let me know,
Cheers!
