Greetings,

Today, the OA eBook Usage Data Trust effort published a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an Organizational Host for the OA eBook Usage (OAeBU) Data Trust’s Secretariat.  This RFP is the next step in planning for the Data Trust’s continuity and builds upon the past 18 months of research to define the role a data trust can play in solving the challenges facing today’s OA books usage data ecosystem.

This RFP describes the role an Organizational Host will play in supporting the OAeBU Data Trust Secretariat as it works to implement trusted multi-lateral usage data stewardship and exchange to support multi-platform, public-private usage data aggregation, benchmarking, and provisioning at scale.

  • Proposals are due on 1 October 2021 at 3:59AM UTC
  • On 8 September 2021, the project team will host two open community calls at 11:00AM UTC / 7:00AM EDT and 5:00PM UTC / 1:00PM EDT to provide additional context. Identical material presented on each call will address: 1) an overview of the next phase of the OAeBU Data Trust effort, 2) the developing drafts of a mission, vision, service model and guiding principles for the OAeBU Data Trust, and 3) the transition timeline from current research project to hosted Secretariat.  Individuals interested in attending are invited to register for call in details.
  • Through 15 September 2021 at 3:59AM UTC, questions about the RFP can be emailed to the OAeBU Data Trust Program Officer at chri...@educopia.org. Responses will be shared via a public FAQ document.

On behalf of our project team and advisors, I ask that you help us to distribute this RFP. Our hope is to identify a committed organizational partner to host the OAeBU Data Trust’s secretariat staff and infrastructure so that we can continue to foster a community-governed Data Trust.
