PHP Developer role in Wanaka

Hi All,

I'm looking for another PHP developer to join me building websites in
Wanaka, preferably someone with 3-5 years commercial experience bulding
small-medium business sites.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week) role with potential to grow into
full-time if things work out well. Hours are very flexible and sneaking
off on powder days isn't a problem. For this role I do need someone
on-site, so I'm not looking for remote employees or contractors. Pay
rate is $20 - $25ph depending on experience.

The role is mostly building new websites using Concrete5 CMS. So
experience using this would be nice, but if not you definitely need to
want to learn it. We don't get involved with design, but you need to
know how to cut up a PSD, work with jQuery, find your way around a LAMP
box etc. We handle basically everything involved with small-medium
websites except design and client management.

No, not at all.

But if you are an expert on the going rate for Web devs in Wanaka then
I'd love to have your input. I actually have some experence in this area
in that I employ one, and have interviewed several others. If I'm way
off the mark here then there won't be any interest and I'll have to
readvertise accordingly.

People sometimes don't appreciate how much time and investment goes into
training up a new employee to a point where you can actually make a
profit on their time. This absolutely gets factored into the starting
pay rate. And Wanaka is not the same as Auckland or Wellington. Maybe
you do things differently in your business, that's your call.

In addition, I suspect there is an oversupply of PHP developers.
Vacancies seemed to get filled quickly. A friend of mine with a PHP
development company certainly does to feel there is any shortage of
them.
