Hi
I've just uploaded a word.doc invitation to

"Online and off to the future" - it's an invitation to a talk to hear
"Doug Jacquier, an internationally recognised leader in connecting
communities with technology."

The event is sponsored by Metiria Turei, Co-leader of the Green Party
in association with ComVoices, and will be held in the Parliament
Buildings Banquet Hall on Wednesday 16th September.

It's a breakfast meeting at which a light breakfast will be served and
costs $20. Although the deadline to RSVP was 8th September, if you
want to attend, it's worth trying to book.

Here's some text from the flier:

Doug Jacquier

Doug is CEO of Connecting Up Australia, a nonprofit organisation that
is an internationally recognised leader in connecting communities with
technology. He has been invited to address national nonprofit
technology conferences in the US, UK and South Africa.

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
(AICD), a former national Board member of the Australian Society of
Association Executives (AuSAE) and a former Vice-Chair of the IT
Council for South Australia. He was honoured as Innovator of the Year
in the 2008 Equity Trustees National Nonprofit CEO of the Year Awards,
which included funding to allow him to visit several successful
nonprofit technology projects in the US and Canada in March 2009.

In 2003, Doug established the first Australian website specifically
focused on IT resources for Australian nonprofits. In 2004, he
instigated Connecting Up, the annual Australian national conference on
IT capacity development for nonprofit organisations, now in its sixth
year and attracting an international audience.

In 2007 Doug led his organisation into partnership with US nonprofit
TechSoup Global to establish the DonorTec technology donation
programme for nonprofits in Australia. The DonorTec programme saves
Australian nonprofits over A$20m annually by channelling IT software
and hardware donations from companies such as Microsoft, Cisco and
Symantec, as well as locally sourced products and services.

His organisation has since partnered with the New Zealand Federation
of Voluntary Welfare Organisations (NZFVWO) to establish TechSoup New
Zealand. Already in its first year of operation the programme has
saved New Zealand charities and nonprofits over NZ$3 million on retail
technology costs through software donations from Microsoft and other
donor companies.
