Hi,

There’s two copies of Wellesley St West in Central Auckland, and an unusual service road running almost parallel to the north through buildings [1].

I’d fix it up immediately, but *both* copies are are in bus routes, and the one that’s actually connected to the network is the one that has the incomplete set bus routes. The one that has the bus routes is not connected to other roads, but is straighter, but, actually appears to double back on itself.

What’s more, this is all fairly old - the straight, unconnected, doubling back version of Wellesley has been there for for years.

I propose deleting the unusual extra service road, the wobbly-but-connected copy of Wellesley Street, the double back on the straight Wellesley Street, and then connecting the remaining version of Wellesley street to the network.

Just before I do fix it up, does anyone (particularly mfanwy) want to check what I’m planning to do? Alternatively, if you’d just rather I got on with this stuff without bugging you all, please say so.

Cheers,
Geoff

Hi,

Sorry, my analysis in the last email was wrong: it looks like at least some of the problem is from this edit [1] by x-phil. He managed to muck up College Hill and Victoria Street while editing the Gold Coast. I cleaned up that part yesterday (and now perhaps I shouldn’t have, sorry) but didn’t realise that he’d also moved nodes on Wellesley St.

If anyone knows where the traffic lights now sitting on the corner of Wellesley St West and Halsey St used to live, that’d be awesome, or if they can revert my edit [2] and x-phil’s (maybe never mind the gold coast?), that’d be great.

Cheers,
Geoff

Gold Coast (a few gents clubs by the looks), Noumea, and Auckland in the one changeset – mind boggling, but let's nurture not judge :)

Can't help you with the traffic lights (never been to AKL) and can't really follow if the edits even worked, but I may have fixed this just now. JOSM threw an exception trying to revert your changeset, so I figured it was time to try the Perl script [1]. That worked, but only does complete reverts, so no good for the next undo. So back to JOSM and identified all the affected objects in AKL. Couldn't find some of them to select ([2] & [3] resolve as URLs and render though, weird). So selected College Hill [4] and Victoria St West [5] and reverted "selection only" successfully.

Please check my work. As I said, I got lost in what was messed up and don't know that part of the country. I am grateful for the opportunity to try another tool.

Cheers

It looks good to me. The geofabrik servers are a bit behind the times, and don’t have your changes on them yet, so the verifier is still looking at the old map, but I’ll check again tomorrow when geofabrik should be up to date.
