Folks
(and especially those teams who are gearing up for this year's NZ Dragon Boat National Champs), here is what you have been waiting for - the Nationals Race Day info!
For anyone still sitting on the fence, ACT NOW because entries are due to CLOSE SOON! Any last minute entries are solely at NZDBA discretion, and will incur a 15% surcharge. Register at www.sportsground.co.nz/nzdragonboat/80199/3 (simple form)
You can also Download this race pack (version 1) and any updates at www.nzdba.co.nz (click on the "Documents" tab).
Remember that we need you to send us your signed Safety Waiver forms plus you team photo sheets. I will be sending last year's sheet to each team to update but we also have a blank template on nzdba.co.nz "Documents"
Teams must use IDBF Spec 202a Paddles (wooden or fibre). Any team does not have 202a Paddles must ask ASAP if you want to borrow a set - we can't pull them out of thin air on the day...
Remember that we will NOT be offering meals at the after party/Prize-Giving venue (Ashburton Hotel). BUT we will be lifting a Hangi at Lakeside straight after the schools prize giving, say 6 or 6:30 pm. The cost is only $10 per person - book NOW - there are just 300 available.
Alternatively your team can find a restaurant in Ashburton or perhaps a BBQ back at your Motel. Note the much later start time for prize giving (about 8:30 or 9pm).
NZDBA would also like to use the opportunity for a get together on the Friday evening prior to Nationals, probably about 8pm. We invite a representative or two from every team attending for an informal get together over snacks and refreshments where we can have open discussions around:
- Development and Growth of the Sport of Dragon Boating
- 2015 Nationals – possibility of introducing 10’s Racing (which naturally extend Regatta to two day’s and implications of that/costs etc)
- Sweep Accreditation Scheme
- Trans Tasman/Oceania Racing
- WCCC in Adelaide 2016
- Open Forum
Please let me know if you can attend. Venue details to follow.
