Well folks we have listened to you, and we thought long and hard about how we can improve the experience of the National Champs for paddlers. We have also been looking at how we can encourage greater participation from the Auckland based teams in attending the Nationals. So we are very excited to bring New Zealand's peak event back to Auckland City.

The NZDBA Nationals 2015 (incorporating the Trans-Tasman/Oceania Competition) will be held over two days, on Saturday the 28th and Sunday 29th March 2015 at Lake Pupuke, Takapuna, North Shore, Auckland. This makes it the week after the Auckland Regional Champs at the same venue.

We will bring you two days of intense racing, along with a number of elements to the day to give more paddling time on the water. The championship event will incorporate Adults and Schools racing over the two days.

Day One will feature our premier race length of 500m racing for 20-paddler crews, with the possible inclusion of 10 man/woman crews. If we are lucky enough to have a full paddling timetable for the day we will look at repechage races for those who do not win their heats. This will create great excitement to ensure that everyone tries to achieve their best times in all heats.

Day Two will consist of 200m Sprints and 2 km Turns racing.

We anticipate that the entry fees will remain the same as in 2014.

We still have a long way to go on the logistics of this event, but wanted to give you a quick heads up so that you can start making plans to attend the event. We hope that by taking the racing to Auckland it will make it financially more viable for many of the South Island teams to make this more affordable. It is certainly now time to start that fundraising to get your team to Auckland.

So folks, mark the dates and venue in your diaries - we look forward to seeing you at Lake Pupuke in 2015.
