Hi all,

It’s fantastic to see the level of support and commitment from industry to this initiative, both in terms of support from a huge range of organisations, plus financial commitment from a bunch as well. Less than 24 hours from releasing the Draft Code of Practice we were over halfway to fulfilling the budget and we’ve now exceeded it.

However other organisations still have the opportunity to contribute to the initiative – see below for more info on this.

A very special thanks to the following organisations who have committed to contributing at the levels indicated thus far:

Gen-I

5000

(Plus up to $5k in kind – see below)

Equinox

5000

Onenet

5000

Xero

5000

Webdrive

5000

Salesforce.com

2500

InternetNZ

1500

NZRise

1500

EOSS Online Ltd

1500

Systems Advisory Services Ltd

1500

NZCS

Logistics etc

(was $7.5k-$10k – see ToR)

In addition, a number of others have indicated they will likely contribute but are just working through internal funding provision processes.

Gen-I have also offered to provide their rather flash Smart Meeting Rooms for the use of the project (up to $5k of value). This will mean that the Steering Group will no longer need to meet in Wellington other than the first meeting and will also aid in consultation once we’re running.

You’ll see that contributions now exceed the budget which is great! Hooray – thanks heaps for those that have stuck up their hands. However we’re still calling for other organisations to contribute – it’s better that more organisations are contributing at a lower level.

If we are over budget when we close off contributions we propose to do the following:

1.       We’ll run up to 10% over the indicative budget to allow for unforeseen circumstances etc

2.       As outlined in the Terms of Reference, recover a portion of NZCS’s contributed expenses (probably about half, so we’ll still be contributing significantly)

3.       Over and above this, the contributors as a group will have the option of:

a.       Reducing all contributions in proportion (eg if we’re an additional 20% over, all committed contributions would reduce by 20%)

b.      Increasing the resources available to the project

c.       Holding any over for Phase 2 of the initiative (however that progresses in due course)

Option (3) will be determined by the contributing organisations as a group (ie it’s their call, not ours).

Also, if you have offered a contribution and aren’t in the list above you may have slipped through the cracks (my email’s a little crazy at the moment). Just drop me a note and we can include you in the list. Thanks!

And lastly, a really big thanks again for the organisations above and others who are looking to contribute. It’s great to see industry supporting this initiative so strongly and the clear desire to see this project succeed. It’s going to be great! We’ll hold contributions open until Wednesday next week (12th October).

Speak soon.
