Another thing Im after is some aluminum extrusion - about a meter at 2
cm by 5 mm
does any one know a hobbie shop that would sell such stuff..
Im the past Ive wrecked bits off old TV cabinets but Im out of
wrecking stock...

No idea. Start by asking businesses who make signage where they get their
raw stock from.

Some hardware stores have a "handyman rack" which contains lengths of
various sizes of aluminium extrusions. In my experience over several years,
the selection tends to be a bit patchy (they don't restock often) so you may
need to visit a couple of stores to find the size you want. It pays to buy
the useful-looking shapes when you see them rather than wait until you need
them.
I know of Placemakers Hutt Road, Benchmark Adelaide Road, Mitre 10 Tirangi
Rd. There are likely others.
