The reason why dogs don't die from Halloween chocolate is
many-fold:
Probably most of the fun-bars were snickers or milky ways, they are only
chocolate covered and funsize bars are really small. so 80% of what they
might eat was caramel and nougat. add that ALL halloween candy isn't
chocolate, much of it is hard candy and stuff, so that dilutes the
chocolate factor even more. next, all dogs don't have the same
metabolism, some can take more than others. next, if they ate an entire
bag of halloween candy, the sheer volume would likely cause them to
vomit most of it back up within minutes, before the chocolate is
absorbed. and last, a medium dog would have to completely eat (and keep
down) about 6 LARGE solid milk bricks to die of chocolate poisoning. so
in conclusion, chocolate is not VERY toxic to dogs (they don't drop dead
at the site of it) it's just POTENTIALLY toxic
