My dad took me and my best friend there when I was a kid I can't recall much
but I remember it was kinda crappy.
Anyone know where it was was and what it involved ?

Pakuranga wasn't it? I recall it was fairly lame, but I enjoyed the
driving thing. I think I still have the "license" somewhere.

Is Rainbow End still operating?
Cath
Yes it is but I don't know how profitable it is. They look really busy
around the holiday times and they do corporate functions. Tis a tad
expensive too. http://www.rainbowsend.co.nz/
Nelly.
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours :-)
nah.... I lived in Pakuranga at the time, and I remember it being well out
of the way... tho being a kid that could have been just around the
corner.... such was my patience.
the only local amusment park I can recall was 'Heritage Park' in Ellerslie,
where the St Johns HQ is. that didn't last too long
It was in Te Atatu Peninsula. I don't remember too much, but they had a
driving course which you needed a license to drive on and a BMX track as
well as the usual amusement park rides.

After it went out of business, the Lion Safari Park bought the land and
shifted there.
Peter
I remember going there many years ago. It was somewhere out Te Atatu I think
... ?
It was kinda cool at whatever age I was then (early teens I think), I
enjoyed driving around in the little cars, got soaked at the bumper boats
and nearly got puked on on the super-loop ...

I was trying to find info on this a while back. There is next to
nothing on the web.
It was out west, on the Te Atatu Penninsula.

"We cruised back out of Whau Creek and followed the grassed eastern
side of the Te Atatu peninsula - one would think that this was farmed,
but in actual fact it was just a wide strip of paddocks etc. behind
which was urban housing out of view from the water. The Leisureland
(Footrot Flats) amusement park that operated in the 1980's was on that
strip"
As above it was at some stage known as "Leisure World".
I can remember going there as a child, it had a roller coaster but I
remember it did not go upside down like the one at rainbows end.
I think it was in the same location as the safari park you mention.
I can vaguely recall going to one in that area... the only attraction
I can remember was a Dry Slope (for skiing on). There might have been
a lake as well. The name eludes me at the moment but I'm pretty sure
it wasn't Heritage Park.
Ta Nelly,
Did you buy another house and if so, what burb.
Cath
Hi Cath,
We bought an old house in Cockle Bay Howick that needs lots and lots
of work. Just waiting for the architect to get his A into G and
getting really stressed with it all, he is 3 1/2 months overdue in
finishing. Thinking of writing my own book now entitled 'Excuses', I'm
sure I have heard then all now ;->
Really looking forward to the day it is all finished, love where we
live and looking forward to summer here.

that was Heritage Park. there was the usual agricultural crap.... sheep for
asian tourists to shave plus a big animatronic Moa, an artificial ski-slope,
and a lake with an island in the middle, to which you visited by pulling
yourself along by a cable and raft ride... our teachers bundled us off
there more than MOTAT.
