This one was in October and in Wellington. So an earlier time and a
different place. However you dice it, it does not look good. Time to throw
away the shovel and stop digging.

Absolutely - we have Police so we don't have to do our own digging!
Mostly what has been dug up is opinion, political spin and ignorance -
TV One even had the gall to seek advice from Bridget Morton - who
dutifully parroted the 'dirty tricks' line from Kiwiblog etc. But then
National and their spin doctors don;t want the police to get through
this case too quickly - rumour and innuendo are much more exciting!

Morton had the gall to suggest that she should be stood down from her
positions with the Green Party - who had already done that days ago!

So by all means enjoy the speculation but let us remember that old
principle that used to be followed by New Zealand - innocent until
proven guilty - and National need to be careful about throwing too
many stones - one of theirs may be next . . .

Rich whatever political spin you push on this, the fact is that retail

No amount of repeating your references to 'dirty tricks' and National
changes this.

The subject is what Gharamen is alleged to have done. All else is
irrelevant.

As a private citizen going about your private affairs, “innocent until
proven guilty” is the norm.

As a person in a position of special power over the rest of us, the onus
is on you to prove yourself squeaky-clean.

Exactly my point - mindless speculation about the allegations is a
waste of everyone's time; it is notable that the police have said very
little, but it is clear they are serious allegations that have not
gone away. Speculation about what would happen if she is found guilty
was fair, but it has been clarified that as she is a list MP the next
person on the list would become a list MP. There is really nothing
further that the Green Party can say, other than what they have, which
essentially confirms that the allegations are serious and when they
were told of them. She has lost her portfolio responsibilities within
the party until this is resolved. As all else is irrelevant, there is
little more to be said. What additional information was given by other
parties when faced with allegations about an MP of similar serious
nature? What is it that you would want any political party to say
under these circumstances? Parliament does not sit again until 30
January.

Exactly, and if charges are laid (and if the rumours are true that
seems likely), then that will be fought out in court. As an opposition
MP she has no special power over the rest of us, particularly as
Parliament does not sit until 30 January.

Well now that Gharamen has resigned from Parliament we can draw a
conclusion that the allegations of shoplifting have some substance.
Gharamen has done the decent thing here and that should be
acknowledged. I am sure more background information will now become
public knowledge.

No I am enjoying seeing them do that for the first time in living memory,
unfortunately they were too little too late but hey with their history they can
be forgiven, at least by you and their other sycophants.

Moving on, the Green leaders have some explaining to do. For a start, why was GG still spokesperson for Justice when they knew for weeks she had allegations of theft hanging over her? What did they do to help GG? What did they say to Scotties management?

Go on, deny that, if you’re crazy enough to do so.

More lies - were you responsible for the threats of violence and death
threats as well Bill?

From:
https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/01/16/ghahraman-faced-continuous-sexual-physical-threats-shaw/
The former human rights lawyer and Iranian refugee apologised in a
statement around midday today, saying she had let a lot of people down
and would take accountability for her actions. She said she had fallen
short of expectations and mental health was a factor in her acting "in
ways that are completely out of character".

This afternoon, Shaw said Parliament was "obviously" a stressful place
but Ghahraman had been "subject to pretty much continuous threats of
sexual violence, physical violence, death threats since the day she
was elected to parliament".

Shaw said the party was not in contact with the police about the
allegations and it would be inappropriate for it to be. It meant the
party found out about further allegations as they were revealed in the
media.

He said Ghahraman was getting a lot of support from Green Party
members and colleagues as well as friends outside the party, and
medical professionals.

Shaw said Ghahraman was not using mental ill-health as an excuse or
justification for her behaviour, only as to explain it.

All of which is diversion and irrelevant.
Politicians are always subject to hateful behaviour, I wish that was not true -
however suddenly that is a very convenient excuse for law breaking - give us a
break we are not as stupid as you. She stole, period.

Notice how the media studiously avoids telling us where she travelled
to over the holidays. Yes, the Green "Iranian refugee" spent the
holidays in... Iran! The hypocricy transcends all norms, not only
hers but the Greens, and the media which pushes their hypocritical
narrative by all methods including omitting highly relevant facts.

Is there some monopoly, perhaps Government-enforced, on what constitutes
“NZ media”?

You're 2 months too late for that, now it's just rancid lockstep
leftism which badly needs to be extirpated, somehow.

Golly-G has now been charged with 2 counts of shoplifting in Auckland. Given the evidence a guilty verdict looks almost certain. What's the bet she gets a discharge without conviction?
