Re your decision to boycott the Macsyna King book

Dear Ms. Mousdale,

I was interested to hear you will refuse to sell the Macsyna King book
on moral grounds. That's a laudable decision.

I presume that you have also refused to sell A LIFE by Tony Blair,
GIVING by Bill Clinton and DECISION POINTS by George W. Bush. Each of
these authors is directly culpable for the deaths of far more than
just two children.

If, however, you do sell any or all of those books, could you please
explain why?

Yours sincerely,

Morrissey Breen

Few bookshops can stock everything. Judgement has to be exercised.
There are better books to stock that are more likely to make a profit.

King was the mother of twins whose life was ended in a sickeningly
violent action. I don't recall ever hearing of any children fathered
by the above gents having suffered the same fate.

It's a bookseller's own choice what books they sell or refuse to sell.

But all this publicity will just make more people want to read the book.

And if some larger booksellers boycott a popular book, those who do decide
to sell it will get increased sales and make more money, won't they?

(Me? I'll wait till our library gets a copy.)

So sickeningly violent actions are OK except when you inflict them upon your own children?

You idiot. No one claimed they killed their OWN children. Every single
one of them has directly contributedto , and exhibited callous
indifference to, the killing of children in Iraq, Afghanistan and
Palestine on a massive scale.

Thanks for admitting there is nothing in common between the murder of
the Kahui twins and the actions of the foreign political leaders you
identify.

Exactly. Such a comparison is unfair to Macsyna King.
