We are a new organisation (N.O.B.L.)being established to lobby government
against draconian increases to motorcycle registration fees.

Right now it costs $100 more to register a motorcycle than it does for a
car. Bikers therefore, have more rights than motorists!.

ACC want the government to charge motorcyclists $3700 but the sum of c.$750
is in the wind.

<shouting> ACC HAVE $11B IN RESERVES AND TAKE IN $1B A YEAR MORE THAN THEY
SPEND</shouting>

Right now we need a lawyer in WGTN who is also a biker to join with the
executive of N.O.B.L. to provide assistance pro bono.

We may also need a:
Printer
Embroiderer
Button maker
Engraver
Statistician
at this time

By all means respond to this post.

Thank you
Peter Lowrie
National Organisation of Bikers Lobby. (N.O.B.L.)

I haven't seen any statements from the ACC, so I suspect that the push
to increase the levies is entirely Nick Smith's - so he can lower the
trust of the public in ACC generally, and enable it to be readied for
privatisation.

Mind you, John Judge (the puppet chairman) may well have supported his
mate Nick Smith - he knows his job depends on deliverig what National
want . . .

Windger and moaners with so called bad backs would be the last

It’s in the same cot case market as prime mortgages

Car claims cost more than motorcycle accidents as does Pedestrians and
Cyclists. Just heard on the news tonight that skin cancer costs 57
million a year which is only 5million of what motorcycle accidents
cost per Year.

Cyclists:
- 567 active claims
- $12,573,000
- $22,174 per claim
Pedestrians:
- 1115 active claims
- $24,494,000
- $21,967 per claim
Car Occupants:
- 8525 active claims
- $208,305,000
- $24,434 per claim
Motorcyclist's
- 3173 active claims
- $62,523,000
- $19,704 per claim

ACC was established as a "no-fault" scheme. In many cases of
motorcycle accident, the fault is because a car has failed to give
way, or turned into the path of a motorcycle. By raising the levy to
such a degree, motorcyclist are being penalised for being the victim
of a criminal act.

As for ACC claims that each car subsidises motorcycles to the tune of
$77 check the figures below. *Remember there is a shortfall of
$52million.

The MOT Annual Vehicle Fleet Statistics for 2008 states there are
2,584,509 light passenger vehicles in New Zealand (light passenger
vehicles are defined as cars and vans)
$77 x 2,584,509 = $199,007,193 which means car drivers are paying
$149m more than the total ACC cost supposedly incurred by
motorcyclists. If the two most senior people in ACC are so confused
over the numbers - is it any wonder the ACC funds have been mismanaged
to the point of a deficit in the billions of dollars?

It seems you don't understand how insurance works. Those "windgers and
moaners" have all paid ACC levies - and if the levies are not enough
to give a good profit they can be put up. National are just
artifically increasing some to demonstrate that they are prepared to
support general increases to pay the costs of private companies
setting up systems, doing marketing, paying commission on sales, and
still make a profit.

Nick Smith has consistently told lies - John Judge has consistently
made statements himself that are carefully worded to be supportive of
Smith, to the extent that he must be on the border of being
unprofessional in making financially misleading statements - but that
is probably a question for the accounting profession; we just know
that he is a National lackey.

Teh confusion is all with Nick Smith and National - he's the one who
has been giving out wrong figures. Remember that National have told a
lot of public servants that they are not allowed to talk to the press
. . .

How many of those motorcycle injuries happen on farms or off-road on
machines not registered for road use and therefore not covered by these
proposed levy increases?

When I worked at ACC interviewing people about their accidents, a good
2/3 were sports related. Why has this group of people been able to
skive off scott free from their responsibility to pay levies, with
their corrective surgeries being in the $5-10,000 range for joints,
tendons, ligaments, etc.
