Hi
I've been considering becoming a hardware reseller in the relatively small
place I live and have got the Edge dealer forms. They seem a bit daunting
given that I have not been dealing in hardware before. Is anyone prepared to
give me advice about becoming a dealer with Edge and or other suppliers. Off
group might be best.

Thanks

Don

Be prepared for a lot of warranty claims on behalf of your customers.
By "dealing in hardware" do you mean selling or installing/building
PCs, setting up software/fixing problems/being expected to know
everything about what works with what, etc.

Some pt of view from "Computer User w/ Few Knowedge @ Hardware"
( CUFK@HARD ) customer :D

- Even small shop, but i like to compare to big one's ( include oversea, eg.
Outpost )
- Parallell goods always welcome
- OEM's too.
- Detail info about product, at least: brand, price, function, type (PCI,
ISA, USB...so on)
- Be honest
- Keep you shop bright & clean :D
- Allow to look in the shop from street.
(i know there're security problem, just do your best)
- Dont show the poster, promotion notice or anything which out-dated
- Give discount to customers from newsgroup!!

Thanks - I think it will have to be a huge discount for customers from the
NG because I'm not considering competing on the national cut price scene. I
would hope to supply to the less knowledgable purchasers who want someone
local for support and security.

Mm., yes, many customers would be willing to pay a little more for local
service and security, that is something you can bet on. If you establish
your business and reputation there, then you'll find you will do well, and
will have very loyal customers to boot. I know that customers get very
affectionate of their small computer business's in small towns (I have
worked for one), and I must say the environment is quite nice to work in,
especially the interaction with people you actually know.

Best of luck,
Anton
