Linux file system hopelessly corrupted and unfsckable. Despaired of
losing all the data accumulated since the last CD backup, but then
remembered an old Knoppix CD in the drawer. It detected all the
partitions on the hdd, plus my USB stick, enabling a retrieve of my
precious data. Knoppix is free, its easily available, and you'll never
know when it's needed.

Well with OSX and Filesalvage by Subrosasoft I was able to completely
recover all the files of a SD memory card that someone had formatted in
their Canon Digital camera. Got back 180+ jpegs and 12 avi files.

It is a brilliant program that has done some major miracles in data
recovery from unreadable media.

Good stuff ! you know the sinking feeling. My data was also photos, from
a recent holiday. I'm going to make a habit of burning new photos
directly onto a CD without delay.
