Does anyone know how to setup opengl acceleration for the millenium2?
ive installed the latest drivers for win98 but when i try to use opengl
accel in quake2 it reverts back to software. It looks like the millenium2
supports opengl going by matrox web site, In my main computer I use a tnt2
and the drivers for win98 came with opengl included, didnt need to do
anything else.
What do i need for the millenium?

A different video card. Sorry.

THE FLYING PENGUIN'S GLQUAKE / MONSTER 3D FAQ

3D Cards that WILL NOT run Quake engine games in hardware that I get
asked about all the time are: the Diamond Stealth 3D (although the
Stealth II will) and other cards that use the S3 Virge chipset, cards
based on the ATI Rage or Rage Pro chipset, and the Matrox Millenium,
Millenium II and Mystique (the Matrox M3D will, although not well, and
so will the next generation Millenium G200 and Mystique G200 - these
last two very well).

Matrox has never had a real 3D card... until now. The G200 is a second
generation 3D chipset that has just started to appear in Matrox's new
Mystique G200 and Millenium G200 line of video cards. These are 2D/3D
combo solutions and, unlike most combo cards, it has outstanding 2D
performance and visual quality. Not surprising considering the
pedigree - Matrox cards have always been very good 2D performers. As of
this writing, these cards have been released, but the OpenGL ICD isn't
ready yet so you have to use a D3D wrapper instead. Matrox says had
originally promised a full OpenGL ICD driver for late September '98 -
NOT! Latest word is that the soonest we'll see it now is a release
candidate in late November. Quake games do run very well using the D3D
wrapper, but this card won't really shine in for Quake games until the
ful OpenGL ICD is released. All we can do is wait.

Forget it. Whatever (mis)information the Matrox site may give you,
the Millennium-II's 3D acceleration is essentially identical to the
Mystique's (I've owned both), that is, very basic Direct3D that
is far inferior to a Voodoo1. Even if you got OpenGL acceleration
working it would be painfully slow.

Ok, thanks... guess ill stick with 320*200 software... it actally gets a
good framerate (solid 30+) looks pretty shocking though, good for a bit of
network.
