Forgetting, of course, that if we have more than one, then it can’t be a
monoculture, can it?
Yes, they’re going to lock down the off-the-shelf distribution to prevent
customers freely adding software from other sources. But it is still Open
Source, so you should be able to “jailbreak” your phone/netbook/whatever as
simply as, say, booting it off a customized OS image stored on a USB flash
drive. And the vendor isn’t going to see that as a security hole and put out
a patch to block it.
At least, that’s how I expect it would work.

Interpretation: Don't be visibly evil to the detriment of shareholders.
Certainly if they try to pull a Tivo, there will be a lot of people
displeased.
Google will rule the world one day. It might pay to be careful what you say,
they have lots of data storage space.....
