Thanks in advanse

Not sure on Win98 but your question about Win95 gave me a good laugh,
thanks.
A quick product lookup shows some USB Flash Drives that claim to work with
Windows 98 / 98SE (Driver Included) or
Windows Me / 2000 / XP (No driver needed)
So it seems that it should be possible to get the drive to work with Win98,
hopefully someone can point you to a driver that will work.
BTW
95, good one. Ha ha.

Done.
Mine's supported by Windows 98 (Why Microsoft doesn't just release their USB
standard storage device driver for Windows98, I don't know). You can
download the drivers from here:

I have an MS-dos boot disk that gives me access to my 128MB USB
thing... I read a story on www.theinquirer.net and went and downloaded
the drivers, and followed some old dos tutorials about how to load
drivers etc, and now all good... not alot of use, but cool to play
with none the less.

Humm, how many time have you tried to install the driver?
Windows loves to try ones patience

Hint, money might be involved.
There is a way to find USB (and other driver) updates from Microsoft, but
its not that obvious.
Run Windows Update. In the left sidebar, under "see also", select "windows
update catalog"
from there, "find driver updates", under "other hardware" is listed, among
others, USB.
Select Microsoft as the manufacturer, plus your O/S, and search.
If the Windows Update Catalog isn't listed under "See Other", the select
"personalise Windows Update" and select the check box to display Windows
Update Catalog
I found it funny, not so much thinking that it was not possible, but more
because it is such a bitch to use USB with win95 that I wonder at those
that bother.

How long does it take to write 512MB to it?
Have you used it with Win95? Did it work easily?
It’s interesting to see a USB device list compatibility with Win95, over
90% of USB devices state that Win98 or above is required.
Since yesterday I have gone out and purchased a USB2 512MB Pen Drive, Bafo
brand, cost less than $300 incl. The write speed is listed as over 5 times
as fast and read of over 9 times as fast as the USB1.1 model listed in the
link above.
Most of my customers run Win98 or above, so hopefully it will prove to be
very useful.
What are you guys using yours for? Mine currently holds 285MB of stuff
that includes: Virus removal tools, latest Norton virus signature update,
Ghost 2003, Winzip, some updates and some drivers.
Does anyone know much about how to make one of these things bootable, apart
from setting the option in the BIOS of course?
You need to do just what you would do to a floppy to make it bootable, ie.
copy the required system files over to it.
Cheers,
Nicholas Sherlock
So I connect it to a Win98 machine and from the command prompt type SYS E:
assuming that the Pen Drive is drive E. Sounds easy enough, I’ll give it a
try.
