Hi guys,

I was just wondering how this particular barcamp was going to be run?
The Auckland barcamp last weekend was run like a face-forward
conference where people just came along with their topics, whereas
Citcon was run more like an unconference where topics where merged and
shunted and face-forward was rare. Is there a standard here from the
previous barcamp? I just was wondering what to expect so I can prepare
in the correct way for topics I'd like to see up on the board :-)

I don't think having something prepared is a bad thing so I would
encourage people to prepare things if they have something they really
want to talk about. I'm keen to hear a single point of view on some
topics especially at the beginning of each session as I find "I just
want to make this a dicussion" type sessions can easily turn into a
bit of an agree-fest.

In saying that however I think we could have had a little more
encouragement for some more open sessions - I know Ludwig was trying
to pre-organise a lot more as the numbers for barcamp keep going up
and it quite a big job to organise.

In any case these are unconferences so feel free to do what you want!

Anyone know if anything is planned for the Friday or Saturday aside from the conference itself?  Trying to decide whether to fly up Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, and similarly when to return.

Hiya,

I wasn't really offering an opinion on how they were run, just asking if there was a "usual" method for the "Google" one. I'm taking it that there isn't then :-)

There's nothing planned for the Friday but what a great idea - anyone.
Maybe a tweetup - Auckland tweeters, care to make it happen?

Saturday evening has drinks as kindly sponsored by Zendesk (thanks
Justin)
AND, if the budget holds out I'm sure there'll be more in the kitty.

Nope, standard barcamp rules apply (so far) - any ideas on making it a
great event can be shared any time on.

All should come prepared to be involved, be vocal and move around :-)
