1. There are two roles of servant leadership namely: Visionary and
Implementation Roles. I do believe they are equally important as they
complement each other in getting the job done right. The dream/vision
may be good but if not properly executed will make no sense. VISIONARY
ROLE: To be an effective leader we need to clearly envision
possibilities where they seem unworkable. Those we lead must also
clearly see where we’re going, how we plan to get there and why we’re
doing it. Inspiring them by transferring the vision to them so they
can be sold to the idea that the greater good we intend to achieve at
least seems to be worth the risk. We have to be fervent, unmovable and
committed to the cause; stand firm and persevere through challenges
and setbacks, guiding our followers out of dead end situations. A
visionary does not settle for the mediocre, neither allows him/herself
to be conformed to the status quo or what the masses accept as normal.
He/she dares to be different and leads with passion and purpose. Our
whole duty (purpose) is to fear God and keep His commandments and with
that in mind, we will please Him at all times. Moses undertook the
important assignment of leading God’s people to the Promised Land.
Even when their unbelief caused them to wander in the desert, Moses
was there to push them along. He faced difficulties, discouragement
set in and those he counted on started to blame him. He had to cry out
to God at one point to let Him know he was “unable to bear this people
alone, it is too heavy.” (Num.11:14 ) Regardless of what he felt he
still believed what God had promised. As his faith in God grew he
strengthened the people and was obedient to the heavenly calling
always. IMPLEMENTATION ROLE: By any means necessary, we should bring
the gospel to all people. We empower and support those we lead by
demonstrating Christ in our every word and action, not sending them
mixed signals. When our behavior is not consistent with what our
religion professes, it not only reflects poorly on us but on our
religion as well. We should let His Word be a “lamp unto our feet and
a light to our path.” Those looking up to us should see steadfast
leaders who will go the extra mile to preach and teach Christ. The new
visions we present will show up imperfections. This will rile up the
believers and beneficiaries of the status quo but we must remain
focused, thus motivating our followers. In carrying out the vision we
should remember that “we can do all things through Christ who
strengthens us.” With Christ at the helm, we can go through the fiery
furnace without one hair on our body being burned.
2. My mission is to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. My aim is to glorify God by inspiring and
equipping people to lead like Jesus. I want to establish a working
relationship with Christians who have committed their lives to Christ
through prayer and intercession. We will teach biblically sound
doctrine and practice wise stewardship of time, talent and influence.
A key focus of the mission is to also encourage, inspire and uplift
able-bodied, spirit- filled workers who will Exalt God Only so they
can fulfill their calling in God by carrying out the missional
mandate.
3. The fruit of our leadership is what we pass on to the next
generation of leaders. In order to properly equip them to meet the
various challenges they face today, we as servant leaders must
continually pattern our lives off Christ’s. We need to first seek the
Kingdom of God and His righteousness so we’ll be guided by the Holy
Spirit always. Only then will we be able to properly guide them as
they see us living out the gospel by demonstrating our devotion to
God. Teaching our faith by living it is the greatest legacy we can
give them that will transform their lives and catapult them into
having vital relationships with God. When they come to know the Truth
(Christ) for themselves, their faith will be firm and they’ll make
godly choices more often than not. The torch will have been passed on
from us with a brightly burning flame that will draw their peers to
also come to know Christ as their personal Savior. May mercy, love and
peace be multiplied to you all.
