Comment on the practical reasons for leading like Jesus (CHAPTER 6)

Please devote quality time to read meditatively pages 217-228. Why is
leading like Jesus a daily journey and challenge rather than a final
destination?

How has this course help you and what are your aspiration as a leader.

It has been a pleasure working with each of you it is my prayer that
you will make a difference by applying what you have learned to reach
and disciple this generation. I encourage you to make yourself
available for ministry at your local church and at States Events.
Ministry calls for sacrifice and I pray you are better prepared to
give of yourself for the cause of Christ. Again I commend each of you
for your arduous work during the past six months. For those of you in
Metro and Long Island I look forward to seeing you this week at Camp
Meeting. Your certificate will be awarded to you Thursday during
service. Seats are reserved for you and your spouse, please be on

Leading like Jesus is a daily journey and challenge rather than a final destination.  It is total dependent on the Holy Spirit to teach us all things and lead us into all truth.  This can only be done through a commitment to pray always, reading the word of God and spending time alone with God.  Leading like Jesus is to have the same attitude, perspective, purpose and relationship as Christ with others.  We learn to put God first above all in everything that we do, in our every day practice.  As Ephesians 2:10 states that “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk I them.”  As we live daily we live to fulfill the purpose of God for our lives.  We serve God as we serve others and lead as servants of God even in the most competitive environment.

This course has helped me to understand fully what God has called me to do and be.  It allows me to identify my weaknesses, and to come to realization that they are and will prevent me from maximizing my potential in Christ. I have grown more intimate with Christ thus strengthening my relationship with my children, young people and others. I am now more aware of the perception of our young people and have grow to be more patient with them.  I know for sure that my level of tolerance has increased tremendously. I now understand fully that God has called me to serve with my head, heart, hands and habits.  I aspire to lead like Jesus by being an example, love, teach, equip and influence the thinking, behavior or development of everyone I come in contact with in obedience to my maker and Lord. I will serve in sincerity and humility knowing that one day I will hear “well done good and faithful servant”…  I pray that God will be please with my service as I depend on him totally for guidance.

I pray God will continue to bless you and your ministry Rev. Steve as you invest into building His kingdom. Keep up the good work.  God bless you all.

Leading like Jesus a daily journey and challenge rather than a final destination and
can only be accomplished by closely walking with him, surrendering our all to him.
Communicate with him daily through prayers, learning more about him by reading
his Word.  One of the practical reasons for leading like Jesus is that it should be
our lifestyle,  when leading like Jesus we should be able to influence other  people
and pour into their lives to try and make them better.
This course has opened up a new world in my christian walk and my leadership role.
These books have really given me insight on how to be a servant leader and learn
to listen to others without been judgemental.  I will continue to share what I have
learned with the people I come in contact with and those in our youth group.

Thank you, Bishop Steve.  God Bless you

1. As servant leaders we must provide impeccable service coupled with
great leadership that will propel those we lead in the right
direction. We have to first seek the kingdom of God and His
righteousness and all things will be made clear to us as to what
direction we’re to take. Servant leadership is the epitome of
strength; it means acknowledging our limitations and looking to God
for insight and guidance. “Righteousness exalts a nation “….leaders
should be firmly rooted and grounded in God so they can exercise sound
judgment and make wise decisions on behalf of those being lead.
Quality of our service is what matters not the quantity – this is what
significance is all about. When we aim to make Jesus smile a lasting
impression is stamped on the hearts of the people. We should be
remembered as genuine, honest people who vastly improved the lives of
everyone we encountered for the better. Jesus laid aside His garment
literally, to wash His disciples’ feet. This however had a spiritual
connotation- He was willing to become transparent and let them see who
He really was by laying aside His image before those He labored to
inspire. This was unheard of-a Rabbi does not wash feet, the lowest of
the group does that.  Jesus taught us through His action to forget the
status quo and not be afraid to stand out in a crowd for what is
right. When we stop locking ourselves in prisons of pretence and take
one daring step for Him, that will be remembered when we are long
gone.
2. Leading like Jesus is most definitely a daily journey rather than a
final destination. As with any journey we will come upon different
situations that will test our faith and knowing whose we are will keep
us grounded. The Lord gives perfect peace to those who keep their
purpose firm; standing on his promises will only make us stronger. Our
journey is one of challenges and conquests, delight and difficulty,
obstacles and victories. Remembering that our steps are ordered by the
Lord will give us added boost to foil the plans of the enemy. We must
take a daily inventory of our lives by checking our attitude and
behavior so the necessary adjustments can be made. Mess up at times we
will, but though a righteous man falls seven times he rises again. We
are works in progress and we’ve come this far by faith; we’re anointed
and appointed to do His will and the Holy Spirit will continually
guide us. God will at times tell us to do something that seems
difficult or unpleasant.  He is not trying to make our lives hard,
only to get us to the place where He can bless us. When we fear Him
and keep His commandments always, it will go well with us. Whether it
be a test from God or a taunt from the devil in the end it is for our
benefit. Noah was a man of great faith and he proved this by his
obedience to God, it was not in a luxury liner that he spent a year
with all those animals and to top it off there was only one window.
His options were few-either take the stink in obedience or stay in the
storm with everyone else and die. This story serves as a reminder that
God always takes care of His own. He never sends us on a journey
without equipping us but makes preparation that we cannot see with the
naked eye.
3. To God be the glory…look what the Lord has done. This course has
taught me to focus more on and build my hopes on things eternal. I
have certainly gotten the message that to stay close to God I need
more Fasting, Prayer and moments of Solitude. Simplicity-(major
wow!!!) reminds me that things of this earth will dim and lose their
value. All I thought I knew went out the window. Service is a heart
job- we do it to please God as opposed to others. God should rank #1
in my life above all else; not bowing down to something does not mean
that it’s not an idol. Of all the books I’ve read, Celebration of
Discipline has impacted me most. Thank God for inspiring the author to
write such material, this one is definitely a read- over. I have
prayed to God for strength so I can practice the Disciplines I’ve
learnt. My prayer life has strengthened considerably, flash prayers-
never heard of them before but they’re fun. I’m more tolerant of
people so I get peeved less often as I’ve learnt how to yield,
worship, forgive and be liberated in God. I plan to take up my cross
daily and follow Him so I can have an intimate, relational
relationship with Him. I aspire to lead like Jesus by living a life
that is a testimony of His love. I aim to grow more mature through His
Word so I have more to pour into those that I lead. I want to help
rise up a generation of worshippers so I can hand over the ‘baton’ to
capable people in a better condition than I got it in. To my fellow
colleagues, your testimonies and prayers have helped me tremendously.
I wish you all the best as you grow stronger in the Lord. I especially
thank God for NYYLA. Keep up the good work you’re doing for the Lord;
your labor shall not be in vain. Blessings and peace multiplied

Leading like Jesus is a daily journey and challenge, the reason is every day we are faced with opportunities we have to take and challenges  that we have to respond to, and we have to be ready to learn and be equipped for the battle field. We live in a dynamic world where things are constantly changing so therefore we need to adjust our plans and tactics to draw this generation to Christ. To lead like Jesus we have to follow His lead, we have to constantly draw near to our heavenly Father in prayer for strength and read His word for guidance and depend on the Holy Spirit to do His work through us. we have to be like a branch connected to the vine so that we can bear fruits and fruits that last. In leading like Jesus there is no final destination, for we are always striving to please the Master and to be found in Him and His work  is  never finish in us and with us till He call us to rest. It is a lifetime commitment to Jesus and His kingdom and  a daily transformation by Him.

I have learned  so much in this course, the books that we read has equipped me to model my life after our savior Jesus Christ and to work for His kingdom as a servant leader to draw this generation to Christ by teaching and leading by the word of truth and of life. "Do your best to present yourself  to God as one one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth". 2 Timothy 2:15.  I will do my best to put into practice all that have learned in this course and to continue to learn to equip those that I lead for the Master's work. Amen, God's blessing be with you all in Jesus name.

Why is leading like Jesus a daily journey and challenge rather than a
final destination?
"Leading Like Jesus is a daily journey and challenge rather than a
final destination because it can only be done in and through the power
of the Holy Spirit in one’s life and committed relationships. The
daily journey is just that, a journey that is filled with ups and
downs." Some days you will feel like you can overtake the world, while
other days you will feel like the biggest failure walking on the face
of the earth. Leading based on emotions and/or feelings is not
helpful. The Holy Spirit is needed to accomplish the daily journey and
challenge of leading like Jesus.

How has this course help you and what are your aspirations as a
leader?
This course has provided me with a deeper awareness of my role. I
have a deeper understanding that I must incorporate God and the Holy
Spirit in everything. This includes my feelings and emotions. On those
days when the odds and people seem to be against me, it is important
that I remember that my help doesn’t come from my talents, strengths
or abilities, it comes from the Lord (Psalms 121:2). Personally, this
course has reminded me that I am human. I often strive for perfection
and get upset when things don’t turn out the way I intended. I have to
realize that once I ask for God’s help and place things into His
hands, He has it under control.

In conclusion, I am thankful that I took this course and was able to
read such great books and (virtually) meet all you wonderful people. I
pray that great revelations will come your way in your individual
lives, God will enhance you and growth will be evident in your
ministry. God Bless you all!

Comment on the practical reasons for leading like Jesus (CHAPTER 6)

Please devote quality time to read meditatively pages 217-228.  Why is

Why is leading like Jesus a daily journey and challenge, rather than a final destination?

Leading like Jesus is a daily journey and challenge rather than a final destination. A journey to me signifies different experiences over time progressing toward living a Christ-like life, a daily journey means there will not be a final destination. We will go THROUGH so many different things throughout this daily journey some absolutely amazing and others will bring us to our knees. However living the daily Christ-Like like you should be on your knees daily not just when you things going through. Daily, pull out His word and meditate on it, go back into these class notes or re-read the posts or revisit the literature. The challenges and tests are necessary when leading like Jesus, there cannot and will not be a testimony without a Test! AMEN. We will face opposition in our personal lives as well as in our ministries, Jesus also faced opposition and persecution, Thank God Jesus has already overcome the world, everything that will try to prevent us from living the Christ-like life and leading like Jesus. It will be a daily journey and the beauty in this is that with the power of the Holy Spirit in my life and with GOD First in before anything I am abundantly blessed in everything.

How has this course help you and what are your aspiration as a leader.

This course couldn't have come at a better time in my life, there were so many changes as I have discussed in previous posts. New wife, adapting to that role, being laid off after 5 years, wanting to be a better daughter, sister, future mother, aunt, friend etc. It was just a season of change that I really did not understand. I was torn and trapped with what Kourtney wanted and needed. This class opened the doors, my eyes, and my heart to lean not on my own understanding. My Pastor Mom preached watch night service 2012  with a message that it's time for a new thing .....

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” Isaiah 49:19

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2Corinthians5:17

It absolutely was and is time for a NEW THANG. I was so consumed with the busyness of life that often times I didn't make worship or meditation a priority, if I heard God speak I would interpret it the way I thought it should be. Like, no you must not mean me.  One thing about God he never makes any mistakes. He can use even me and I'm so grateful for that. This course the literature your encouragement Pastor Steve coupled with great peers. I found myself saying ohh you have to read this book, sharing chapters with other ministry leaders etc. the blessings is contagious! I am encouraging others to take the course, I even spoke with my mom to inquire about what classes they have to take and suggested this course as a back to basics opportunity for pastors to self-reflect and recharge.

It's critical  to have alone time with God as we read through the books I would visit Buffalo and see my Dad every day in his word in the wee hours of the morning we would talk about the class and he would reflect and share with me. I would see him studying tirelessly and I asked oh what's this Sunday’s Sunday School lesson he was studying he was flipping far back in his notes, I thought maybe he didn't hear I was talking about this week so I said No Dad this week not 4 weeks ago !  He responds with a grin I am always weeks ahead in my Study school lesson. I just saw some many things confirming what God was showing me. This course has inspired me to pursue my Doctoral degree just starting my third class. I so look forward to working with my young people Ive seen changes in them replacing fear with faith AMEN/

Thank You Lord for this tool you have provided us through your WORD you Will And you Way, Lord we Thank you for Pastor Steve his preparation and Patience and Prayer he has blessed us with, Thank you Lord for the journey we are embark on daily with you. Lord we thank you for the test even when the test is being administered and we are seeking you, Lord I thank you for this opportunity, and I pray that we start our mornings and evenings with a song in our heart and the Word in our minds leading and loving like JESUS. It’s Been another day’s journey and I’m glad. Be Blessed

I really believe that in leading like Jesus we will find that the
results we get tend to be greator than what we might expect.I
personally see a great example of not leading like Jesus. My place of
employment they have a tendency to walk over their employes, then the
employee refuse their work instead they complain.Well I do belive that
if a real relationship was nurtured between my bosses and co workers
they would be more efficient in all they do.
As christian choosing to live for GOD is a journey and challenge not
a final destination if it were to be a destination that would mean
when we gave our hearts to God then that would have been it all we had
to do . however the lord set an example for how we should live and
face this challenge so if we express our love towards him and follow
his example we will be victorious.

This course has helped me to advance in my journey with God. I have
also learned different teaching styles that has helped me to conquer
the battle I had before of not being able to effectively touch each
student. I am more disciplined in my walk, i am practicing the
principles. so thank you very much I am blessed.
