workers in your local church.

Youth Ministry – A Plan
Entering into the ministry of youth as a youth pastor or
worker, the role is a very serious task. Young people today are
easily influenced, for good or evil, more than any other sociological
group. Today’s challenge for youth leaders should not only be one of
identification, but also a challenge to gain insight and knowledge of
the culture and pressures that youth now face. The many obstacles
that youth face today can at times be insurmountable. Yet there seems
to be a resiliency and purpose in the heart’s of many youth to rise
above the menaces and move toward a deeper and more personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. Leading youth means building bridges –
narrowing the gaps between generations. The message of the Apostle
Paul to Timothy helps to begin the building process of uniting
generations into one common bond—the church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a
good conscience and a sincere faith. (I Timothy 1:5, NIV) The danger
today for youth leaders is that we will become like the culture in
association and identification. But the call of every leader who
follows Christ is to become a catalyst that will lead the
current and next generation toward the reflection of Christ Jesus
through the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit – a people who are
challenged to enter into a culture in need of a Savior and make a
difference! The challenge therefore is positive and success driven.
Leaders who have prepared themselves through training and disciplines,
determined within to never be satisfied with the status quo, and who
are convinced that the message to be delivered is the only message
that can change a culture and prepare that culture for the next
generation — still in need of a Savior.

Spiritual Guidelines for Effective Youth Ministry – A Philosophy
The ministry of youth is at its most challenging and
opportunistic time in the history of the church. The need for young
men and women to take a stand in this postmodern society is not only
demanding, but also essential and purposeful. Such need requires a
philosophy or criteria for what we want to accomplish based on the
availability of resources and the intent of the burden that drives us
to success in youth ministry.
Philosophy, by its own definition, is an understanding of
why we do what we do – the very heart of ministry. Yet, the youth
leader(s) should recognize that the elements of this current culture
play a vital role in its development and implementation. It was the
“Sons of Issachar” who understood the times of which they lived and
followed the biblical mandates of God’s will for His people. God
indeed has a purpose and plan for this
current and future generation: a plan that destined to touch the
lives of youth both inside and outside the local body of Christ. The
construction of youth ministry is based on God’s desire to paint a
masterpiece, an artist’s expression of this generation. The capturing
agents involve both the energies and emotions of what this youth
culture sees, hears, feels, and touches. To blend together unique and
interesting talents, skills, gifts and abilities onto one canvas
become both picturesque and priceless.
For youth ministry to capture this same artistic vision
and insight, youth leadership must be informed, inspired, and
involved. Information received and utilized should be based on
current trends, needs, and voice of today’s youth. The enlistment of
young people to be soldiers in this vast army of God is solely based
on the leader’s research and understanding of the current youth
environment.
Another important element of youth leadership involves
inspiration. Youth ministry is not merely maintenance – keeping kids
from the world’s influence (although essential), but also exhibiting
before them unconditional love, with an understanding heart, and a
willingness to inspire them to dream big dreams, while equipping them
to see those dreams become reality. Young people often experience a
roller-coaster lifestyle
during the adolescent years. The western culture has moved them
forward so quickly that their ability to keep up the pace of the
demands and requirements to be a young person often leaves them
feeling inadequate, sometimes guilty and shameful, and often
frustrated and exhausted.
Reaching young people today consists of adults who are
willing to become involved in their lives, dreams, and hopes. It is
all too easy for today’s youth to slip into our ministries and become
cultural Christians. We must involve them in a personal experience
with Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Their lives
should be changed from the inside out so that they may change their
world from the outside in. Our job is not in attempting to explain our
world, but rather to change it. The dynamic of revolution throughout
history has always been a matter of understanding as well as action in
both orientation and implementation. One without the other can
produce stagnation, misdirected vision, and chaos. Used together in
the right manner can assuredly produce change for the good and young
people for a cause!
The masterpiece of our Lord toward His children is
crystallized when those who are called to lead today’s youth have
prepared themselves in the school of prayer, who listens to the cry of
their world, and who are ready to make a difference in the life of one
young person, with eternity in view.

Qualifications for all Local Youth Ministry Team Leaders – A Procedure
Each leader should profess and exhibit the following qualifications
for effective youth ministry…
1. Should express a testimony of salvation, sanctification, and
empowerment of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
2. Should be faithful in all areas of biblical stewardship.
3. Should be willing to guide the youth entrusted in your care toward
spiritual maturity.
4. Should have a firm foundation in the Word of God.
5. Should be dependable and faithful to the vision of the ministry.
6. Should commit time and talent to the task assigned.
7. Should have a keen awareness to the total church program and have

8. Should be willing to be a consistent learner of new ideas, models,
program implementation, and procedures.
9. Should be willing to feed, lead, and model the youth ministry
within the framework of the pastor’s heart and
vision for the church.
10. Should work in harmony with all areas of church leadership, local,
state, and international.
11. Should exhibit and exemplify true character and a lifestyle
pleasing to the Lord, while at the same time,
bearing the fruit of the Spirit.
12. Should constantly present an attitude of a persevering heart that
will not be overcome by ministry demands
and responsibilities.
13. Should be willing to explore and enhance his/her ministry that
will produce creativity, enthusiasm, a leadership
style capable of being followed, and methods of relationship
building, moral integrity, and loyalty to the call of
God on his/her life and the cause of Christ for His church.
14. Should maintain a high level of respect in the way he/she relates
to all church leadership and young people
both personal and professional levels. Each leader of youth
should present a manner of loyalty, stability, hospitality,
confidentiality, courage, commitment, dedication, and communicative
skills as he/she helps to form and shape every young person’s life.
15. Should daily prepare the spiritual and physical body in total
support of the assigned task, a leader who radiates with the
highest level of integrity, striving for excellence in ministry.
16. Should be an active member of the church, being faithful in the
total congregational life of the church body.
17. Should strive for excellence in ministry, never to be content with
average or the status quo; but rather, be
willing and driven to maintain an open and teachable spirit,
always looking for opportunities to grow in
leadership abilities and traits, while being a team leader in
every aspect of the ministry dream and vision.
18. Should continually evaluate the progress of ministry, both
personally and professionally, always willing to learn
from both successes and failures in ministry actions.
19. Should live a life of self-discipline and be willing to pay the
price of time, energy, and resources so that ministry
effectiveness is long-term and eternal in nature.
20. Should consistently be willing to adjust, redirect, and realign
one’s ministry time, schedule, and availability for
the total success of the ministry.
21. Should always strive to exhibit a servant’s heart – giving,
loving, caring, shepherding, and praying for the
ministry’s success and the glory of God.

Youth Ministry Leadership Team
The need for teamwork in the work of ministry is essential and
demanding in leadership development and church growth. New
generations bring new ideas and new ways of responding to the needs.
In the expression of the church, a unified effort of called leadership
will produce a well-balanced ministry with a clear vision and a
determined commitment to the harvest of youth.
Ministry Areas of Concentration
1. Teaching Ministry: Primarily concerned with the task of
maintaining a powerful and relevant Christian ministry for the current
youth culture’s needs. Resources toward spiritual development help
represent the environment today’s youth find themselves in. Such
materials should be Christ-honoring, Bible-based, and easily
understanding. Helping teens understand Christian concepts and
developing Christian convictions, while taking into account their
interests, needs, and abilities, will enable them to take the written
and oral presentations and apply them to daily living.
2. Missions Emphasis: The ministry focus of the local church is
evangelistic in nature. To bring a person into a lasting relationship
with Jesus Christ is the ultimate goal, but not the completed goal.
The missionary effort and call of the church is to be evangelistic,
each one reaching one. Young people today experience God in a variety
of ways of expression, yet with an overall perspective that is focused
on relationship with Christ. Conversion,
God’s will, and obedience to this will is what youth can handle slowly
without being overtaken and covered up by details – simple salvation.
A missions emphasis of learning for a young person is involvement. The
need to be aware of the purpose and plan of God for their lives is at
times overwhelming. Helping them to understand their mission, their
calling, and their world, will lead young people into a mission field
that is prepared solely for them – a harvest that will be reaped with
great benefit.
3. Parent Ministry: Parents exert a strong influence upon
their kids regardless of the negative cultural directives. Although
youth find themselves influenced by their peers, no greater influence
will be embedded within them than that of their parents. Parents can
offer advice, present influence, wisdom, and knowledge of God’s Word
with great return for both the home and the ministry with youth.
4. Worship: Worship centers on God. In includes involvement
in relationship in a vertical axis with horizontal results. Young
people do have a strong desire to worship something or someone! The
greatest challenge of the church today is to influence and teach young
people, by example, the dynamics of true worship. There is a wonder
of getting close to God. Experimentation is extremely important
because today’s youth culture will adventure into the unknown. The
challenge of youth ministry leadership is to provide a means of
adventure and opportunity to search for God – and find Him.
5. Recreation/Activity: Recreation can be either positive or
negative. There are current preoccupations in today’s cultural
influences that demand success over failure, winning over losing, and
exclusivism over inclusivism. Recreation can be positive when it
promotes social interaction, physical well-being, relaxation, and
achievement of skills and talents unrecognized. Today’s youth
leaders should be able to identify the need to be physically fit for
the work that God has planned for their lives. Such fitness is
closely associated with Paul’s writings about the Olympic Games of
Greece and the excellence of running a race well. Certified and
qualified leaders of youth in the area of recreation and leisure
activity should be priority for the success of the ministry focus.
This leader should strive to help the young person grow both
physically and spiritually through the experience of play, worship,
discipleship, and fellowship.

God Bless NYYLA and these great post that are changing our lives,
and teaching us the qualifications for Ministry.

Yes, Yes, I agree totally with the 21 qualifications for all local
youth ministry team leaders.

I need to work on all 21 qualifications. So help me God!

My relationship with my Pastor and all those in my local youth
ministry is: one of focus, fellowship,
and respect, as we work as a team to pull down strong holds by God's
power, and build up God's kingdom on earth.

Let us pray:
Lord, God of heaven and earth, we worship and adore you, there is none
like you, and we are excited and honored to
call you Our Father! We are your people and we love you, we bow down
at your feet and exhalt you. Forgive us of our sins, wash us in your
blood, heal our minds, set us on fire, anoint us well, and give us
courage as we go tell
our generation about you.

Lord and Master, we accept the great commission you gave us, we are
informed with, inspired by, and involved in, this training and
disciplines we are receiving, and we will do all we can by the grace
we already have, we do not need anything else, we have you, your
power, these trainings, and your anointing to impact others.

We will follow the plan, the qualifications, and the spiritual
guidelines, we will build bridges which will narrow the gaps between
generations. So, we are positive, and success driven, and we will
never be satisfied with the
status quo. I personally need the 21 qualifications for youth ministry
leaders to be manifested in my life, I decree,
and declare I am a qualified youth leader because I am willing,
obedient to your word, and I am teachable. I am
asking you to rock my world, set me on fire, unshackle my mind, and
give me the "secret code of approaach" for each
person I witness to as I tell them the story of Jesus and His Love.
Bless and inspire NYYLA and Professor Smith, as he trained us to
impact the globe with your salvation and miracles.
I ask for these petitions by faith, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Thanks Lord of all.
Your Child,
Pat

Yes I agree to the 21 Qualifications for all Local Youth Ministry Team
Leaders.  I also believe I need to improve and grow in all these
areas.

I believe I have a great and insightful relationship with my pastor...
I have a good working relationship with the youth local workers

Father I bless and adore You for all that You are and all that You are
doing.
You are great and greatly to be praise.  From the rising of the sun to
the going down You are God.   I lift You up and bless Your holy and
wonderful name.

Lord, I would like to say thanks for favoring us and for bestowing
Your grace in our lives.   Thank You  for each ministry that You have
placed us in and for granting us the opportunity to work in Your
vineyard.  Help us Lord that as we take up Your mandate that we will
follow after righteousness and holiness so that we can see your path
clearly.   I pray that You will help us youth leaders to become
wholeheartedly passionate for Christ and totally united in the
mission... Enable us to become standard bearers for Christ wherever we
go.

Well I must say it was refreshing to have read these points . I do
agree with these points totally I however need work in knowing the
church programs and the whole parent ministry mainly because I am not
sure what is expected really as it pertains to that. However I do
have a close relationship with my pastors and those that are in charge
over me. My young people and I have a good relationship they know that
they can talk to me about anything at any time and they do talk to me.
I see where my involvement with them has been a blessing to them and
has encouraged them to grow . I always call them and spend time with
them in an attempt of understanding who they are so I can better serve
them .

I pray that from this day forward the youth at New life worship
center will start to have a bigger zeal for GOD and the things that
are of him. I pray that the lord will raise them up to be true to the
heart genuine men and women of God. Dear lord help them to let go and
let you take control of their lives. I come against the strong holds
that seem to keep them bound to their mess . I bind it up and send it
back to the pits of hell from whence it came. I also pray for my
pastor that his vision will be increased and that everything you have
placed in him will continue to be used for your glory. I pray that you
will give him added strength and for him to have and even closer walk
with you and that you will give him the desires of his heart . Lord
help this youth ministry to grow from glory to glory in you I thank
you for hearing and answering prayer

I wholeheartedly agree with the author. We should be committed to the
cause of reaching, teaching, equipping and empowering the youth at any
cost.To do so effectively, we need to have an ongoing relational
interaction with God. As one person rightly states "we should know the
way, go the way and show the way" as our lifestyles and behavior may
severely affect the spiritual growth of those entrusted in our care.
I need major work in all areas because with our God, ninety-nine and a
half won't do.
I have a good relationship with my pastor, with members of my local
youth team,it's a bit strained to say the least. We NEED prayers as we
are imperfect people, but we are a work in progress, and I know that
the God who caused us to have the desire for ministry, will also give
us the strength to overcome our obstacles. We have come this far by
faith.

All-Wise,All-Powerful God, Creator and Sustainer of heaven and earth,
I worship and adore You because of who You are.I thank You for sending
Your Son Jesus Christ, our greatest role model.Give me a servant
heart, one that models humility and patience so I will be an effective
leader. Help me to remain focussed on only You so I can teach from a
heart motivated by love.
Lord, please open the hearts of the young people as we minister to
them.Let them be receptive to Your Word so they can have the tools to
fight temptation.
Lord, You know the strengths and weaknesses of us as leaders. Help us
to keep our hearts and minds stayed on You so we can study to show
ourselves approved unto You. Then O Lord, will You give us hearts of
wisdom.Teach us to grow in Your grace and knowledge so we will be on
one accord.

Remind us Lord, that the Holy Spirit has made us overseers of Your
flock and we should feed Your children whom You have purchased with
Your blood. Our strength is useless if it's not drawn from You.Jehovah
Rophe, soothe our hearts and minds,as we continue to fight the good
fight of faith and win souls for Your kingdom. Amen.

I am very excited about this post and the benifits that can come out
of our direction in the faith. We have the capabilites of being all of
what god has called us for the youth. This all starts with us wanting
to take in this information and use it on to the lord.

This is very informative and creative place to be in. Bringing us who
are new and exspirenced to the new challenges of supporting our
churches and the youth that have and will make up the growth of the
church. Because, if there is no youth, the church can not pass on its
knowledge, wisdom, and maturity of the things that belong to thoes who
are willing to love god with all of there hearts, souls, minds and
spirits.

Thank you,

I strongly agree with the 21 qualifications for Youth Leadership. As
a youth leader I am challenged to fulfill the mandate given to me by
God. 1 Corinthians 15 vs 58 admonishes me to be steadfast, unmovable,
always abounding in the word of truth. There is the need for
consistency and that my character and reputation will not be
influenced by my surrounding, but that I’ll be transformed by the
renewing of my mind through the word of God. As a leader must live an
exemplified life in order to lead my young people into a lasting
relationship with Christ. Paul in his letter to Timothy, made
reference of him serving God with a pure conscience. That means he was
able to evaluate himself, and if he ever falls short would make
adjustments.
As leaders, we are required meet the expectations of the Lord. Timothy
2 vs 5 “and also if anyone competes in athletic he is not crowned
unless he competes according the rules”. In order to win we must
compete according to the rules.
There are at most four qualifications that I need to work on. As Paul
served with a pure conscience I have already taken the necessary steps
to start working on my weaknesses as a youth leader. I have constant
strong relationship with my pastor and youth ministry. As a Youth
leader, having a good relationship with my pastor and youth ministry
creates a platform for an effective and growing ministry.

• Heavenly father, I praise you for who you are. You are the Great I
Am, the All Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. I
thank you for saving me and you not only saved me but you also chose
me as a leader for your young people. I thank you God that you saw
something in me that you could use. I thank you for the young people
you have entrusted in my care and ask that you will grant me the
wisdom to lead them into a lasting relationship with You. Lord I
submit myself to you and claim the authority You have given to me.
Your words said in 2nd timothy 1vs 7 that You have not give us the
spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind, and that
through you I am more than a conqueror. Lord I acknowledge that fall
short of the requirements for a youth leader and ask that you will
break, me, mold me and fashion me in your likeness. It is my desire
to meet you expectations. Lord I ask you to help me to be willing and
obedient as you work on and through me in transforming my weaknesses
into my strength. I pray for my young people, that you will grant
them your wisdom, knowledge and understanding. That they will be able
know your will for their lives and follow you. Help them to listen to
you as you speak through their leaders. I pray for my local church
youth leaders that you will help us to work together in love and
harmony. Help us to understand that as leaders we must lead without
favoritism and compromising. That we would seek you for guidance and
that we will be an example to the young people we lead in, words, in
conversation, in love and in charity. Teach us to be patient, humble,
loving and kind. Lord let you will be done in us. In Jesus name.
Amen.

Yes, I do agree that all local Youth Ministry Team Leaders need all 21
qualifications to be effective leaders for God in ministry, I am not
there yet, but I am striving towards the mark of our high calling of
God to reflect Him in ministry. I have a good working relationship
with my Pastors and with those in youth ministry with me, it needs
some improvements(better communication).

Righteous Heavenly Father, You are worthy to be praise, glorify,
magnify, worship and adore for who you are and what you have done in
the lives of your servants, You are an awesome God, you are Lord of
lords, creator and of everything seen and unseen. There is none like
you, You are Magnificent.
I come to you Holy Father, asking that you would have mercy on us
lord, forgive us for all our iniquities and sins and make us righteous
in your sight, not of our own merit but on the merit of your dear Son
Jesus Christ whom you have sent in the flesh to offer up Himself as a
perfect sacrifice for the remission of our sins. Thank you lord for
what you are doing in our lives and what You will continue to do. I
pray Holy Father that you would possess the hearts of this youth group
and the hearts of the youth leaders of Church of God of Remsen Ave.
Help us work together as a team for the glory of your name. Inspire us
by your Holy Spirit to learn of you. Draw us nearer to you and
instruct us on how to lead your young people to live lives that bring
honor unto your name. Make us bold to declare your name to this
perverse generation as the only true Lord and Savior. I pray that we
would reflect you in our daily lives and that others may see you in us
and be drawn unto you for the saving of their souls.
O Father, draw the heart of the young generation to you, work in their
lives so that they would have a desire to seek after you, not the
material things of this world that would soon pass away, help us be
faithful servants to you and your youths in everything that we do,
Bless this class and our Rev. instructor in Jesus name I offer this
prayer. Amen

Wow! I definitely agree with the qualifications for youth leaders.
Reading all 21 requirements reminds me to look within myself to
critique and take serious measures to change myself, and youth
department. Personally, I feel that many of us in this class, exhibit
most of these requirements. Although many of us are working to do our
best, there is ALWAYS room for improvement. It’s good to read this
list so we can improve what is currently occurring in our own
respective churches.
I work closely with my Pastor and local youth ministry workers. We
stay in constant contact and are always thinking of ways to reach our
youths. We, like all of us, crave prayers for our youths and want to
see God’s hand at work within the lives of our young people.

Dear Father,
Here we are humbly asking for help. Before we make our requests; we
ask for your forgiveness. Please forgive us for the wrongs we’ve
committed.
You know the individually as well as the needs of each church leader
and our youths. Grant us wisdom so we can lead this generation into
the direction that you want. Keep the spirits of frustration,
confusion, division and complaining out of our lips and ministries.
Instead, give us a spirit of tenacity and perseverance and let our
lips speak life back into our “dry” selves, young people and
ministries. Please allow our actions, thoughts and speech please you,
regardless of the situation presented in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

We definitely need the Lord to give us patience and help us humble
ourselves so that we can reflect His loving kindness towards all that
we minister unto and especially the young generation, God's Grace and
peace be with you.

Hello everyone,
The 21 qualifications, though lengthy, I believe hit the nail on the
head in each one of them. Yes, all local youth leaders should possess
to some level those qualifications.

The areas I need to work on are (many) but here are two:
#3 Should be willing to guide the youth entrusted in your care toward
spiritual maturity.
#15 Should daily prepare the spiritual and physical body in total
support of the assigned task, a leader who radiates with the
highest level of integrity, striving for excellence in ministry.

The thought of guiding another person's life to God is so scary to me.
I almost feel like I have to be perfect for their sake. But I know
that is not what it means. So God is helping me to change that mindset
about being a positive influence and leader to the youth population by
simply trusting, obeying, resting and looking to Him at ALL time. I
think it's a great honor but also a great responsibility and to be
honest I didn't want it, but I have to keep reminding myself that it
is not about me, it has everything to do with what God can do through
me for His glory.

Secondly, I need to work on preparing and training myself in the
natural for the work of God by getting the proper amount of sleep,
eating healthily, getting out more for clean fresh air, running,
walking etc..

As for my relationship with my Pastors and those in the local youth
ministry, I am a fairly new arrival to the church but it almost seems
like I have been there for years, how they welcomed me and embrace me.
I am able to freely share my ideas with them and as a spiritual leader
and parent they used wisdom and what is for now, what needs more
planning, and what's for later. I love it and I love them!
As for the local youth ministry we are just starting out with the
youth ministry this year, so please keep New Life, its staff and
members lifted up in prayer and pray that more youths will come.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I come to you today asking for wisdom and direction for our Pastors,
our youth leaders and the members of our church as we embark on
something You have called us to do, which is to impact the youths of
today with the saving Knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Father, You
said you have given us everything we need for life and godliness. I
asked God that those tools and equipments You put in each and everyone
of us will come out at this time. I thank you Lord for our youths and
our Church Leaders.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.

I was just in Brooklyn and passed by a street name Remsen Ave. the
name caught my attention and now I come on here and your church is
located there. Be blessed and continue to pray for God's great
outpouring on the young and old alike.

Yes, P_fenelus, the very thought of guiding another person's life is
scary. We just have to remember to ask God for help, guidance and
strength to do the task He called us to do. God will see us through!

Darell, I agree with you. You mentioned a very important key in
fostering good relationships--> communication. One thing young people
need is communication. They behave and react in a positive way when
the communication is clear and understood. Increasingly so,
communication must also be exercised between youth leaders and
pastors. Clear communication will help alleviate misunderstandings and
frustrations in ministry.

I completely agree with the 21 qualifications mentioned in this
article. I believe that these 21 qualifications cover pretty much all
the areas each one of us, as youth leaders, should focus on. Which
qualification do I need to work on? Ha! To answer this question I must
say as the apostle Paul said in the book of Philippians 3: 12- 14 “12
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at
my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus
took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet
to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is
behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the
goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ
Jesus”. I think that throughout the process God guides us and the Holy
Spirit shows us in what areas we need to work more, it is an everyday
process! But one important thing the apostle said that I love to apply
to my life is that we just “forget what is behind and strain toward
what’s ahead”.
I have a good relationship with my Pastor, our communication is very
open. The Youth Ministry in our church is fairly new, so we really
don’t have many teens or many workers. I am working the ministry with
my husband and last week a young couple joined us to work in the
ministry as well. We work very well together and I am very excited to
see how God is expanding the group and guiding it into a new level!
Before moving to New York we were also Youth leaders in our church in
VA. When we moved here we couldn’t see what God was doing at that
point but as time passed by I started seeing how God is moving in a
way He only knows how, a powerful way!
Father God I come to you with a grateful heart, adoring you and
enthroning you as you are the creator of heaven and earth, as you are
our creator God. I give you thanks for Soldiers of Jesus Christ Youth
Ministry, I give you thanks for each teen that comprise this group and
for those others that are on their way to join us. I ask Jesus for
your guidance and for your Holy Spirit to pour a fresh anointing upon
each of us as leaders and workers of this ministry. Guide us and use
us as you will, knowing that we are instruments in your hands God.
Move us God into a deeper relationship with you. Move us to seek you
more Jesus, to seek your face and your presence Lord. In your name
Jesus we declare spiritual growth upon our youth group, we declare
victory, we declare teens that are filled with your Holy Spirit and
make a difference in our world. We give you thanks one more time God
for what you have done until now, for what you are doing and for what
is to come, In Jesus name we pray… Amen.

I also think that is essential to actually have a relationship with
our young ones. They must feel open to communicate with us. I really
like that you mentioned the importance of getting to know each one of
them individually. The challenges our teens face are diverse as well
as their personalities and backgrounds and this is something we
definitely need to take into consideration. Good post!

Pat,

Love your prayer! You know that when I read your petition for God to
“set us on fire” I had to smile because that is the same thing I have
been asking for our youth. I really want to see a youth group filled
with the fire of the Holy Spirit, a Youth of fire for God!! God bless
you sis.

Yes, I agree with all the qualifications for all Youth Ministry Team
Leaders and could hold true for all other ministries within the church
as well. I’ve never seen the qualifications listed out like this
before, it is a good checklist if you are considering going into youth
ministry or if you are already in the trenches working with young
people ; serves as good tool to keep yourself in check as to where you
are and where you would like to be.

Which one do I need to work on? I would think for me at some point in
time all of these qualifications could use strengthening and
improvement. I can say I possess all of these qualifications but there
is definitely opportunity for improvement in them all. If I had to
choose specific ones right now it would be 15, 20, and 18. I am doing
the Daniel fast right now and it has allowed me to realize I need to
take time for myself physically and spiritually. I need to manage my
time; not allow the hustle and bustle of the day to manage me. Self-
reflection is important in defining and redefining what you want to be
as an individual but also as Team and where and how you would like
your ministry to flourish; this is definitely an area I seek to find
improvement. I believe I am a constant work in progress, learning and
growing closer to what God has called me to be every day.

My relationship with my pastor is very open. Our local Youth Ministry
is fairly new, I think our relationship could be stronger, from
reading these qualifications I think it might be important that we
construct something similar to review yearly or even quarterly, to
keep us as a team in perspective as to our goals, our strategic
approach etc. maybe leadership and team building exercises also.

Lord for Our Youth Group and the Youth Workers at New Beginning Church
of God; please grant us the strength, the patience, the creative mind
set, perseverance and the vision to work collaboratively ;changing
the lives of our young people one by one by drawing them nearer to
you. Thank you for calling us, Thank you for the gifts you have
bestowed upon us, Thank you for this vast opportunity to serve you.
Please continue to expand our outlook to see and envision the ability
through you to execute successfully. God we know there is one thing
you can’t do and that is fail. We thank you for a successful youth
ministry; we thank you for saving our young people. We thank you for
allowing us to communicate and focus. I believe in Jesus Name it’s
already done. AMEN.

Mary my sister,
Thanks sooo much! To God be all the glory, yes, I need the fire (fire cleanse and purify) also to burn in all
the cold ungrateful places of my heart,  the places that I am struggling with, the places that will
hinder God's purpose from being fulfilled in my walk and ministry!

All my Love,
Pat

1. I agree with the 21 qualifications for all Local Youth Ministry
Team Leaders.  It sets a standard which will help Youth Leaders follow
and in turn influence the ones they are teaching to lead a life of a
leader and not settling for anything less in life.  Not only does it
helps and benefit the Youth Leader but those around them.
2. I need to work on #10- Should work in harmony with all areas of
church leadership, local, state, and international.  I work in harmony
with my personal church, but I am not involved much in the state and
international events. I need to start working on being more involved
in the different programs offered. I feel it is very important and it
will help my walk with God get even stronger.
3. My relationship with my Pastor is great.  He is my Father, but
apart from that he teaches me the lessons of life.  I learn so much
being under him. He fixes my eyes to see beyond what is in front of me
and helps me focus on the plan God has in my life.  The relationship I
have with my Youth Ministry is amazing. It feels as if we are family,
and are very very close.  We all have an open relationship which I
thank the Lord for each day.
4. In Prayer:
Our Father in haven, I come to you at this moment for the Youth group
at Upper Room Church of God.  Lord you have shown in many ways that
you are with us.  At this time, I am sending a special prayer for you
to continue to protect the youth with you love and power.  We need
your blood to cover the youth at all times, in the church building and
outside as they go on their daily activities.  Lord help them stand
out in being different and representing you.  Help them know that they
are your children and they have special work to do in this world.
Show them the right path and the right people they need to be around.
Help them through temptation and all trials and tribulation.  Let
them set the standard at school and in their homes.  Lord guide them
like never before, give them the tongue of the learned.  Help them
gain more from you then anyone else.  Lord you know the youth and the
leader’s lifestyle.  Please protect them and wrap them in your arms.
We love you because of who you are, you are a great God and we thank
you.  In the name of Jesus I pray- Amen!
