Temporary news and nntp access

I see that the nyx.* newsgroups are temporarily available, according
to the MOTD. But running /nyx/projects/snorwood/bin/nn-update
seems extremely slow. Does it still work? Or should I just use nn
itself?

Also... is access to the nyx.* from outside Nyx available again?
I had gotten rather fond of using Free Agent.

The news server is located in Missouri at my ISP. So, its gonna be slow.
